okay - all of those petty reasons aside, shards was attacked by a canadian goose when walking too close to one of their nests. they didn't think they were close enough to upset the mother, but...well, of course shards knows that they would protect their kits in the same way, if a strange creature approached. but they have a grudge against these geese now, and are too prideful to admit that they may have been in the wrong.
