The number one rule of a butler… know your employers drink preferences. Drinks are the liquid of the heart, a good one can make your day, a bad one can ruin your day, an ok one… well an ok one makes you feel ok. Lou had been working for the Oswald family for the majority of his life, from a young lad until now, and the greatest lesson he can ever teach to the new recruits is don't make a bad drink or you'll probably have a bad time.
The Mistress enjoys fruit tea, her favourite being peach, but never assume what flavour she wants or she will assume you want to be unemployed. The master of the household enjoys a black coffee, the darker the better (the mistress says it suits his soul). The first young master likes black coffee too, with a spoonful of sugar, he once said dirt water tastes better with sugar. The second young master enjoys plain earl grey, the fourth young master enjoys hot chocolate, with extra chocolate of course. And, the third young master enjoys… tomato juice but we don’t talk about that (did I mention he’s adopted).
Whether it be the youngest of kals or the oldest ones, Lou could cater to all tastes, hence why he was now the head butler of the White household, trusted by the whole family. A drink catered to a business partners preference could lift the mood and swing a deal. This was also the case in regards to a little poison in the drink of a competitor to win a business deal. Note to self, don't mix the poison powder with the hot chocolate powder. Anyway as a butler it’s important you can make good drinks, and lucky for Lou he was really good at making drinks (except for tomato juice).
