Momotaro - also known as peach boy - is a hero in Japanese folklore. It tells the tale of a boy born from a peach that was floating down a river. An old woman who was washing her clothes had found him and took him home to her husband. The child claimed to be a gift bestowed by the gods to the old couple.
As Momotaro got older, he left to fight a band of ogres - better known as oni - that were invading the land. Along the way, he met and befriended some animals and together, they raided the oni hideout successfully and went home with the treasures they plundered.
