Your first instinct is to think she's playing a joke on you, but the intensity of her expression tells you she's being genuine. She must see the confusion on your face, because she says,

"It's just... it's kind of silly."

She rifles around in her backpack for a moment, reaching all the way down to the bottom, past the stuffed animal she always carries and her sketchbooks, which you thought would surely be her most cherished items- any one of them, you knew, contained more than their weight in sentimental value. She paused a moment, hesitating, before retracting her arm and showing it to you.

It's a small, tear drop shaped pendant, a cheap looking trinket, with a pressed clover inside. It's not even a four-leafed clover, you notice, and you stare at her quizzically, waiting for an explanation.

"It's... It's just a clover I found," she stammers, but you can see in the way her eyes refuse to meet yours that she's nervous, you know this is very personal for her, so you don't pry, you give her a minute to collect her thoughts.

"With my mom. She's usually so busy... we don't get to hang out often. She's really cool, though. She makes all sorts of cool art out of nature... and one day when we were walking, I found this clover and asked if she'd make something for me. It's not lucky, but... it is special." [ 250 / 250 ]

Nero gently cradled the small object in the palm of his hand, his eyes reflecting the object with much focas. Finally settling in a secure nook in a tree he opened his palm revealing a small object inside. No bigger than a quails egg lay a crystal white feather, each strand shimmering from the light falling through the gaps in the tree's branches. Almost as if he was afraid one touch and it would disappear he only lifted it to his eyes, watching with great interest every movement, every spackle of light the feather produced. Then seemingly gaining the courage he reached out one finger gently stroking it, letting the soft feather tickle his finger.

He had coveted this feather for some time, he had watched the most beautiful bird in the forest prune its feathers, always taking care of the one white feather that lay between it’s brow. He thought it was rather ridiculous how much this bird cared for its feather, why was it any different from the others? He took back this thought quite quickly when he witnessed the bird one day. It had been a damp cool morning the sun had scattered over the forest illuminating everything under its gaze. This moment he couldn’t forget, when the light sprinkled over the white feather a mirage of images appeared, it was like a child looking through a kaleidoscope for the first time, breathtaking.

The images that form from a feather were just this, breathtaking, it was if another world had opened up before his eyes. Yet it came and went too quickly. He longed for the feather. But although he wished for it very much he would never take it from the bird, as it to treasured it more than anything in the world. However accidents happen, a rainstorm flooded the forest, the beautiful bird was separated from its feather. When he found it he almost couldn’t believe his eyes, he knew the bird would be looking for it but as the all known rule states, ‘finders keepers’, so with that the feather was his treasure now.

Lucia's most cherished possession is a violin painted a glossy white. It's strings have been colored to match the pride flag she proudly bears: pink for the G string, purple for the D string, blue for the A string, and another pink for the remaining E string. The pegs at the top are colored to match. The back of the instrument displays a sort of pride sticker gallery, only a mere few spots of white peek through between the emblems of bisexual flags and "love is love" statements that she has managed to collect. The instrument was gifted to her by her best friend, the first girl she ever loved. She plays it with pride and pure joy, bliss and smooth music emanating from the vibrating strings. She hopes that someday she'll be able to play it as a professional violinist for every Kalon to enjoy, but until then, she considers owning such a wonderful thing to be a gift in and of itself.
