meal: Flyaway PoppersHarvested early once they've grown to be about half the size of an adult human male's fist, young flyaway plants are canned in a mixture of honey and some manner of fruit juice, and often assorted spices according to personal taste. Cinnamon is common, typically paired with either apple or pumpkin juice.
Due to the flyaway's unique properties, the canned plants gradually absorb the mixture around them, and with it, the flavors they've been marinating in. The hollow centers will have filled with a thick, sweet, syrupy mixture during the process, like a jelly filled doughnut, while the outside is typically hardened, roasted and candied over an open fire.
Too sweet on their own for some, others prefer to slice them over ice cream, mixing with the frozen treat, or blend them into milkshakes. Some will mix them with warm cream to create a sweet, creamy, fruity drink, sometimes with a little zing, more palatable to certain races and individuals than the other traditional drinks, such as eggnog and hot chocolate.
Flyaways are a plant created here, and as a winning post, are supposedly canon now.

Chop, chop!
"Oh, what am I making?" She wipes her brow with the edge of her apron. It's very warm in the kitchen and that heat seeps out to the dining area where you're watching her.
"You must be from far away. This is one of the most common winter dishes around here: sweet pumpkin slices. Really cheap, really good."
You watch her nudge a rotund orange... creature away from the table with her foot, gently.
"It's really simple, anyone can make it. Take some squash-- I like pumpkin the best-- and cut it into slices. Throw on some brown sugar and spices, and some butter, and heat in an oven until the pumpkin is hot and soft and the sugar has caramelized."
One the rack near you is about a dozen slices cooling. The smell is wonderful and warm and adds to the aura of festivities in Meld. The sugar glistens when you look at it, causing your mouth to water.
"Go ahead, take one! As a welcoming gift." She smiles-- and in her distraction, that orange salamander from before snatches a whole squash from the table.
"SQUASH! I just fed you, you greedy bugger!"
Squash takes off, victorious.

meal:
A simple fish meal for those who enjoy cold foods, even in winter.
Check out local shallow lakes! The biting chill would have frozen the water entirely, so if you look carefully, frozen fish can be found, perfectly chilled and fresh. Dig them out and remove the ice around them carefully. Best eaten right away, although salt rocks and lemon can be added for those who want more flavour in their food. There's no need to cook the fish (what's the point of even having frozen fish in the first place if you warm it?) Fish are best around four days after the lake has frozen over, for peak freshness.

Wyrmling: Pudding
name: Cotta (Panna Cotta, Its a type of pudding, Delicious by the way ^^)
gender: male
meal: Cotta absolutely loves eating sweets at Christmas dinners. He spends a lot if time baking and preparing many many deserts.
His favorite being the Pudding Cake he makes.
The Cake is a dense chocolate-tasting cake, with a pudding filling. He ices it with blue and orange icing....it tastes like orange and dark chocolate, its a rather hot cake....due to the fact he loves putting peppers in the chocolate for the mix. While making the cake he adds a cold liquid from a spring next to his home, that stays cold against hot objects. So he adds a small but of it to the Pudding on the inside of the cake. It gives a nice cool relief to the hot sponge of the chocolate portion, the pudding tastes citrus-like. He is normally the only one who ever eats it, but thats the way he likes it
All the cake to himself
Art piece [wip]
I dunno if I'll get it finished. Most likely will though ^°^

meal:Flyaway Flan
Flyaway Flan is not an incredibly easy dish to make with the most famous presentation- after all, to take the fruit from a Flyaway Plant, and carefully add just enough of the pudding-like dish so that it can be perfectly weighed down enough that the plate remains stably floating around whichever height it is left at is a feat indeed.
The dish itself is made of the edible Flyaway’s stores of nutrients (instead of milk like normal flan), and has the original Flyaway’s beautiful, sweet, and perfectly crunchy top later laid on top of the soft main dish (in place of caramel). To finish the presentation, a different Flyaway (usually bioluminescent or flowering) is carefully given access to the plate the Flyaway Flan resides on, allowing the vines to loop around it just enough to transport the Flan in a floating manner without restricting the consumer’s ability to remove the plate.
This dish, due to the complexity of getting the consistency of the main Flan correct, as well as the need for access to contained Flyaway’s of multiple types, is rarely seen outside of very expensive restraunts during festivals, or places where “royals” reside. But, everyone knows about this sweet and delicious meal, and look forward to having it available at festivals. (It can be served without the Flyaway floating the dish, but even that is rarely found outside of inns due to the time necessary to make the Flan).
(For color, think of Matcha Cheesecake- Based off of the entry that won the egg that is being added to cannon- see
here)
