mom; Louis knows about how his mother left him and his siblings behind. Deep within himself, he knows that he wants to meet her one day, although he seems to be angry with her, for leaving them in the hands of their father, whom he does not have much affection for.
father (vlad); Louis and Vladimir are not close at all. In fact, Vladimir and he have hardly ever seen eye-to-eye before since he was a youngling. Louis hates the recklessness of his father, although he does not show it.
father (hikaru); Louis believes that he must not judge based on rumour and would rather hear his father out. He wants to know the truth and reason for Hikaru's disappearance.
siblings;
Charlie; Louis loves Charlie, a lot. Although Charlie is short-tempered, he seems to be capable of handling them really well.
Vivienne; Louis finds Vivienne quite reasonable and looks up to her as an older sister. Overall, because Louis has a cold exterior, Vivienne is one of the few people who can see through it, and into his heart. She is capable of sensing his true emotions.
Sinbad; Louis feels that Sinbad is very easily angered and that he jumps to conclusions too easily. Although Louis tries to remain patient with him, it's easy to see why they get into fights every so often. Usually Vivienne has to step in to get them to stop. (wowies a good elder sibling!)
"All right! Today we have our finalists who will be competing to win the right to own a new cutting edge mirroring device!"
Louis wasn't listening. He was more concerned about the people watching. Here, maybe at home. God knows if there are people in the audience just waiting to lash out at him, kill him maybe.
His eyes scanned the audience, looking, waiting.
The host turned, gesturing for Louis to start his turn. Louis steps forward, picking up the huge dice and threw it back to the ground.
"AAAAnd its a number '4'! Louis, take 4 steps forward."
Louis stepped forward, putting on his poker face. Thank god for all that time he spent in Vlad's casino. One thing he learnt is that during any sort of competition, one must never show fear.
As the host began to commentate on the rest of the events unfolding in that studio, Louis began to recognise something, someone, hidden in the far corners of the audience. Wearing a surgical face mask, it was easy to assume they were just sick, but Louis had a gut feeling that it was a cover. Someone really didn't want to be seen. Every now and then, Louis would dart his eyes, not daring to move his head in fear of being noticed.
He couldn't risk it. Louis wondered if his father sent Ichabod again.
"Doubt it.", he whispered.
The game continued, and so did Louis' mental guessing game.
Louis had to put on a show. It's something he understood ever since he was young, you can't trust anyone. You have to put on a show, and no matter what happens, no matter how terrible, the show must go on.
"Keep going, Louis concentrate!"
With determination, Louis put on his best game-face and a big smile.
"IF LOUIS ROLLS A 2, HE WILL HAVE SECURED THE GRAND PRIZE", shouts the host.
Looking at the dice, Louis remembered a fantastic trick he saw once at the casino. It was a biased dice. Every time it rolled, the outcome would always be the same. That's it! He wet his hands with his sweat, carefully, making it look as natural as possible. he picked up the dice, making sure to touch the side numbered '4'. This way, because this side is wet and heavy, it would definitely be likely to land on a 2 because it would stick to the floor, leaving the two dots facing upward.
"It's-- a numBER 2! Louis has won the grand prize!"
Louis went up to collect the mirroring device.
"Sweet", he said, smirking.
Guess it doesn't matter if he cheated, he won, right?
Louis turned to the audience, with a smile on his face.
Then he remembered, the one in the mask!
Turning around, he looked to the audience once more.
Whoever it was, they were gone. The masked kalon was nowhere in sight.
