chyro name: Gemini
personality: Gemini is spunky and unapologetically herself. When she was growing up, she always felt as if she was different than everyone due to her genetics, and this made her anxious most of the time. She felt constantly accosted by the stares of others, even those who weren't staring. She constantly wanted to hide away, close her eyes, and enter another dimension. To escape from her anxiety and fear for being judge, she would often walk down to a small stream to hide away and calm herself. The stream flowed consistently and was so smooth it seemed as if you could stand atop it, which Gemini had tried when she was younger, and quickly learned that this was not possible. She watched it move, and similarly to the trees of a Bob Ross painting, would speak to the fish. She would tell them how she was feeling, vent her fears, and just generally make herself laugh and enjoy the feeling of talking, knowing that the fish could never tell another Chrysocon. For months she did this, yet there was one particular fish who she felt most connected with, a small brown-orange fish, who seemed to stop his swimming briefly to listen to her vents and conversations. The conversations with this fish went on for a couple of years, until she became skeptical. She walked up to her mother one day, "Mama, how long do fish live?" Gemini asked this with fearful longing in her eyes. "Those little brown ones in the streams?" Gemini nodded, as her mother looked confused. "Those river fish are often hunted, they don't often make it past a year". Gemini's mother, still with a confused face, turned away and resumed her business. Gemini sat and thought for a moment, soon realizing she had been talking to multiple fish all along, never realizing it. 'Why do they all look the same? She thought about this, and realized in their species, everyone must look the same. She left that day with a new appreciation for her genetics and appearance, knowing she'd much rather be different than look the same as everyone else. After a few months of working on this thought, Gemini's fears had subsided and she was now friendly, spunky and a joy to be around. She spreads color and laughter everywhere she goes, and will never try to hide her true self again. Being unapologetically herself was so liberating, it felt as if the chains of fear and judgement and broken off, and she was free to soar. She made many new friends and has a strong love and appreciation for every one of them. Wherever she goes, Gemini will always spread the message, never hide who you really are, no matter how different you may be. (460 words)
