that's just what all those cheesy inspirational quotes spread across the internet claim. to me, happiness is so much more than relief from stress and sadness.

real happiness is when i see the looks on people's faces when i sing. there's something about knowing you've touched someone's heart that just can't be matched. knowing i'm appreciated and loved by people who haven't even met me is more than i could have ever asked for.

i started small, performing in the streets, and now i'm here, and it's amazing. this is being happy.

windows rolled down:
"step on it!" i shout to the kalon in the driver's seat, over the wind that blows through my hair. i'm laughing, i'm in a good mood. we're heading to the concert, windows rolled down. but i'm not seeing the artist, except for in the mirror, because i am the one performing. my first show, and it's such an amazing feeling.

i remember when i got the call, asking me to come. it's a small venue, but i don't care. one person could show up and i'd be happy.

it was when we got there though, that i was really overwhelmed. i don't know what i was expecting, but there's no way i thought that the hundreds of kalons that showed up would. they filled the stadium to the edge, all yelling my name. they were there for me.

it's time to start the show.

i got up from the piano i was playing, and above the noise, i called out, "now you!"

and as the crowd chimes in to "don't stop believin'", i couldn't help but let the tears stream down my face. i wasn't the only person crying. a few people got just as wrapped up in the music as i did, and they sobbed through the lyrics.


the concert finishes, the audience dragging out the last note, and, a little bit tired and a lot emotional, i climb down from the stage to meet them.

it's a tearful mess of passionate kalons with about ten hugging me at a time; kits, teenagers, adults, everyone. all i can think about is how i never imagined being here when i submitted my first cover. but life can be surprising like that.

Gracie is naturally very happy all of the time and so happiness is just apart of her life style, although
she often refers to her coffee shop as to what makes her so happy all of the time.
when she was younger she had always wanted to own a coffee shop and would go on and on about the
smell of the coffee and baked treats, the soft music that played in the background and the soft
chatter and clicking of keyboards from the people inside. She dreamed of having her own shop like
this. a sort of soft safe haven to get away from the rain, or to just work and be surrounded by the
background noises. and so when she was finally ableto purchase the area for the shop, and get
everything for it she created her own safe haven. it was calm and smelt of peaches, warm drinks
and freshly baked treats.
