Nirav (Indian for "Quiet")
Personality [150-250 words] ||
Nirav is seen as a very cold-hearted individual. Once you have wronged him, he turns into a cruel and calculating monster. He is very intelligent and meticulous, always looking at the fine details and figuring out new ways to use something or prove someone wrong. Nirav strives to ever expand his mind, so he often is looking for the dustiest corners of a library or out in the field studying. His pursuit for knowledge takes him to many dangerous places, but also many gorgeous places as well. He is a rather worldly Kalon who doesn't stay put for long. Nirav is also classified as a mute, preferring not to speak. He has learned sign language to help him with this endeavor, but if people do not understand he will muster up a word or two, or write it out. Underneath his mute, very antisocial appearance and attitude, lies a very gentle and protective Kalon with the capability of loving until it physically hurts him. Due to such a traumatizing experience, his way of love can be overprotective, and he worries constantly for his loved ones. It makes him anxious to get attached because he had lost everything years ago, so he usually attempts to push people away in a vain attempt to save himself. Nirav, however, has a good heart and cannot fight attachment to someone no matter how hard he tries. This causes a lot of trouble for him, and he is not very open about his feelings. [249]
Where are they from? Where are they now, and how do they react? [300-400 words] ||
Nirav was born in a time long ago, where Indian royalty ruled the country instead of just being a novelty. His family was quite poor, and he was thrown into work at a young age to support them. He spent many months away, even a year at one point. During the beginning of his teenage years, he was gone for a year at work, and came home to no one. After a week, his neighbors broke the news to him- his parents had passed during work due to tariffs by the monarchy. Devastated, this was the last time he spoke for many years to come, choosing to become a mute.
After this happened, he chose to take whatever fortunes he had left and study. He took frequent trips around India to sample spices and to experiment with plants, creating miracle pastes and even poisons. He became so famous that he was sought out by the prince at that time, yet he harbored deep hatred towards royalty. He went from zero to hero, becoming decorated and a part of the royal court as the resident doctor to the prince. In secret, he worked on poisons meant for the prince, but was caught doing so when a guard passed out after drinking a potion he had created. He fled into the deepest parts of India where he was bitten by an odd snake he had never seen before that he tried to study.
He awoke, many years later in modern day India. He was found by other Kalons who originated from the West, in quite a confused and aggressive state. It took him close to 5 years to grow accustomed to the ways everyone spoke and acted, and how his home country had changed. The world was incredibly advanced, and he found himself fascinated by all the technology and research that had been done since his time. He lived with the Kalons who had found him, who were conveniently botanists with connections. Although still mostly mute, his new role as a Chemist in modern times requires him to speak on occasion.
Nirav has never fully accustomed to how long he slept, nor does he know how it was scientifically possible. Till this day he still researches why and how this could happen, but he always falls short. He is fully convinced it was some divine intervention, or maybe even his parents. [399 words]

"Look, over there! What an amazingly realistic statue!" Two kalons bounded towards what seemed to be a statue of another kalon carved in stone, cracks littering the statue like markings on fur. It was an interesting piece of art, especially being in the middle of the Indian forests. Wrapped around the neck of the statue was a snake, teeth sunk into the kalon's chest where the heart should be. In the two explorers' minds, this reminded them a lot of the statues back in Greece that depicted mythologies. However, they did not recall hearing of an ancient story that ended in a snake bite to the heart.
"You should take a picture of me by it Yvonna!" The larger kalon bounced over to the side of the statue, flinging himself on it and posing. Though Yvonna, the much smaller female kalon, was weary about the situation, she pulled out her camera and took aim. Usually, this was used for documenting plant species, but recently it became a sort of selfie camera. She took a few photos before she grew tired of his shenanigans, but the male kalon pleaded for at least one more. "Fine, Amir. One more, but then we really have to head back to the hostel!" Amir smiled, and then posed sitting on the back of the statue, hugging around its neck like the snake. She snapped the photo just as Amir's paws slipped, breaking off the head of the snake in the process. The stone underneath him began to crack even more, and in a flash he was off hiding behind Yvonna.
Slowly but surely, rock fell from the kalon statue, revealing a body underneath. They had found Nirav, who had changed underneath the rock, his fur darkening and new crack-like markings appearing. He was finally awakened. [300]
