happysparrow - Alexis - Female - Cryptozoology Journalist
Alexis crept forward, paws near silent on the soft bed of moss beneath her. Leaving. She was just leaving. That was what she would tell the creature if it happened to catch her watching. Lowering her body to the ground even further, she watched the moth like creature with narrowed eyes, preparing to snap a picture when... RiNg RiNg! The sounds of her phone going off caused the creature to lift it's head and hiss. Hurriedly, Alexis spun around, paws flailing as she scrambled to her feet and hurried for the exit of the forest. Tail between her legs, she panted heavily upon escaping, watching the now empty forest behind her fall back into silence. Boy, was her papa going to be mad...
Family Relationships;
Reaching home, Alexis stopped abruptly as the door swung open, face to face with the exact papa she was worried would be mad. Staring up with wide eyes at Erin, she could already tell that soon he'd be yelling and scolding. He was supportive, of course, but only if he approved of whatever his children were doing. Cryptozoology was, in fact, one of the many activities that he did not approve of. At all. Alexis lowered her head again and stepped gingerly inside, flinching as the door shut loudly behind her. Her and her father did not have the best relationship...
Limping into the kitchen while being followed closely by her father, Alexis hadn't realized that she was bleeding. The pads of her paws had been scratched and skinned by all kinds of rocks and thorns during her escape. Her mother, who had been sitting at the kitchen table, soon hurried to pull Alexis over to have a seat as she worked on cleaning the blood. As Alexis' father began to yell, Nora shot him a glare, "We'll just be happy she's home," the Kalon spoke calmly, before returning her attention to Alexis. Alexis and her mother had always been much closer, Nora having been quite supportive of the cryptozoology. She was the one who always picked up all sorts of journals and books and pictures for Alexis. Their relationship was very close.
Hearing a click of the tongue, Alexis turned her gaze to see her older sister Cinna walk into the room. She had always looked up to Cinna as a wise and beautiful older sister - a role model. Although Cinna had come in to gently scold Alexis in place of a yelling father, Alexis felt that Cinna's scolding held much more love and caring. Cinna had never supported Alexis' hobby either, but she was much more interested in taking care of Alexis and keeping her safe. It was important that her younger sister made it home alive, first and foremost. Cinna was the one Alexis turned to when she needed someone she could trust, someone rational.
Finally, Alexis turned just in time to see Artemis enter the room. Her sister approached the situation as the most calm, quickly moving to take hold of the situation and finish up cleaning Alexis' wounds. She was the only one not to say anything, although Alexis knew that she was worried - Artemis always had everything under control, and now was an obvious time when she did not. Alexis trusted Artemis' judgment, and went to her for help when it came to organization and school bullies, but now her sister had nothing to say.
When everything had settled down, Alexis spoke of what happened. Her story was short and shaky, but as soon as she pulled out her camera, she paused. Gently, a photo fluttered from it, and she grinned as she realized it was the clearest and coolest picture of a cryptid she had ever managed to snag. Her excitement outweighed her worry, and soon the conversation had turned from scolding to celebration and laughter. Even though she didn't always get along perfectly with her family, Alexis surely loved them dearly.

Hi there! I'm Alexis, and this is that time of week where I reintroduce myself to my readers. As my regulars know, I am an avid cryptozoologist. Or, well, a photographer. I also write articles about these guys, and all the cool stuff I know about them! I mean...
I really focus a lot on Mothman, I know, but sometimes I write a little bit about the Loch Ness Monster, or maybe a Kraken, but I really, really love Mothman! I am bubbly and excited most of the time, and even when I'm not, I'm pretty bouncy and quick on my feet. I can be rather sarcastic, whoops, but that's okay? I mean, everyone has a flaw. So, thank you for stumbling upon my column in the paper! I hope you'll hang around!
