Circe is a member of a crew on an inter-dimensional smuggling ship. Her technical job is the ship cartographer, but she plays several other roles in the crew's adventures. She's the first one off of the ship whenever they travel to another dimension. Circe scours the new dimension, drawing up maps of the whole area and speaking to the inhabitants. She scopes out the type of items and creatures in the dimension, deciding if there is anything of value and whether the inhabitants are welcoming or not. Her job may be dangerous, but it is quite valuable to the party of smugglers. It's also the reason she has her best friend.

One of her travels took her to a dimension quite similar to this one, but all of their water sources floated in the air. Some of the aquatic creatures have their own gravitational pull and can move outside of the main bodies of water, bringing along enough of the water to keep them safe. On her scouting trip, Circe found the place to have items that could be very valuable and her crew descended on the dimension. Atlas was scooped up along with several other floating sea creatures. Once they were back on the ship, ready to move to another dimension, Circe was in charge of caring for the treasures. She was talking to herself as she went about looking over everything, and suddenly there was a strange voice in her head. At first, Circe was a bit startled, but her curiosity quickly won over. She ended up conversing with the voice, eventually finding out that the voice belonged to a lovely manta ray-like creature named Atlas.

When the time came to sell their treasures, the floating sea creatures were fetching fantastic prices. Atlas was by far the largest creature for auction, but Circe found her heart breaking as the bids climbed higher and higher. She simply couldn't let him be sold off like this, and instead offered her entire portion of the treasures for him. Her captain agreed and Circe had herself a new "pet." Circe quickly realized he was more than a pet, however, and came to think of him as more of a friend. Atlas has been her best friend and companion ever since then, and even goes with her when she scopes out new dimensions.
