- The moon has just risen, it’s glow lighting up the underbrush of the forest. A figure walks through it, her hair pulled up into a bun. A supermoon, her client called it, when the moon is the closest to Earth. Yutu recalls this as she carefully weaves through the trees, camera in hand.
It took a while for her to gain the courage to go through with her plan, well, more like getting the courage to face her mother. She doesn’t like it when Yutu is out late at night. It’s dangerous, especially in the forest where all kinds of creatures can be found lurking.
A shiver runs down her spine at the thought, before she quickly shakes her head, attempting to clear the thought from her mind. Nothing bad will happen, after all, it’s just a quick in and out trip. Go into the forest, find the ruins of the old temple, snap a few photos, and then run home as fast as she can. It will be easy, in fact, it is easy. There is nothing to be afraid of.
A branch snapping near Yutu sends a jolt through her, causing her to briefly stop and stare at the aforementioned area. She can feel sweat dripping down her neck as the world freezes, leaving her and the knowledge that someone, something is out there with her.

- Maybe she should just turn around. As soon as the thought hits her mind, it’s knocked out by another. No, she can’t turn around. There is no way she can when her paycheck rides on these photos. Being a freelance photographer has its downsides, and while she could have turned down the job, the money offered to her was enough to convince her otherwise.
She let out a deep breath before starting her journey once more. There is nothing to be afraid of. Nothing. Keeping her pace brisk, she weaves through the trees in the direction she is pretty sure the ruins are. From what Yutu heard, it was a pretty straight path through the woods, until you get to a river and then you follow that right until you get there. At least that is what her client told her.
“Ack!” She let out a loud shriek as her left foot met water, the moisture soaking through her shoe and socks and wetting her foot. Quickly jumping back, she wrinkled up her nose and stepped down on the left foot, taking in the loud squishing sound her shoe made as it made contact with the ground.
“Go home.. I should definitely go home..” She mumbled to herself as she looked at the river she had stepped in. She could keep going or she could turn around and head home. Keep going meant staying out longer and getting the pictures. Going home meant refunding her client. Either way Yutu would still have a wet foot.
Letting out a sigh, she turned right and continued on her path, following the riverbank. Bats fluttered overhead, and a small breeze blew past her, sending a chill straight through her. However, she stuck to her path. It didn’t take long until she got the ruins, and once she did her eyes widen.
The moonlight washed over the old buildings, illuminating them and the various plants that grew over them. Vines tangled up old stone, the tops of trees sprouted out of broken down houses. It was the the perfect scene of nature taking back the earth. Yutu gasped as she felt the power of the scene take over her, before hurriedly grabbing her camera and snapping photos from all angles. The thought of something hiding in the ruins never passed her mind, no her fear was gone, replaced with absolute wonder. She stays for a while, taking photographs until her camera dies, signalling that she should return home. With a final look at the ruins, Yutu began her journey home.
