Full Name: Raphael Harvey
Nickname: Raffi
Gender: Male
Relationships:
Percy (dad): Raffi never hesitates to ask his dad for some help. He knows that Percy is always there for him and can help him make the biggest choices in life: like deciding between the red sword or the blue one. He's only a child, after all.
But even if Raffi doesn't know it, he needs Percy to keep him on his feet. In the morning, he's the one who dresses him and waves goodbye as Raphael walks to school. Thank goodness Percy is patient, because when the kit gets himself into trouble and the others just can't manage to keep their cool, Percy is there to help him. It can be hard when Raffi blatantly defies the household rules, but Percy makes a point to not get short-tempered. Patience is essential for working with a little rascal like Raphael.
Rueben (dad): He's the one Raffi looks up to the most. Rueben combs Raffi's hair in the morning, (something Raffi asked for when he saw Rueben's fabulous hair) and kisses him goodnight after a long day of exploring. He's the first one Raffi comes to if he wants to go out and play. Rueben makes a great sparring partner when it comes to sword-fighting and other such adventure games Raffi enjoys. He looks up to Rueben and aspires to be like him.
Pete (dad): This is the guy Raffi goes to when he wants to go outside and do something fun! Raffi's curiosity in baseball was sparked when Pete took him to a baseball game for the first time. Now, Raffi is the perfect kalon for Pete to talk to when the topic comes to the sport! Raffi still has some learning to do, but Pete does a good job teaching him the rules of the game and techniques that would help a player. Now, Raffi has joined a baseball team and goes to practices twice a week! He also goes against other teams in a game one a week, and Pete never fails to go to each one, cheering him on. Raffi isn't the best player, but he likes the sport, and in time he'll improve. He knows that whether he gets a home run or a strike out, Pete will be there in the stands encouraging him and taking him out for ice cream afterwards.
Castor (grandpa): Since he had the king of party-planning as a grandpa, Raffi was used to extravagant parties when he visited Castor. He loved everything about it; the music, the food, the dancing. Raffi never knew he liked dancing until a catchy song grabbed his attention at one of Castor's parties. And, though he can be a bit clumsy and miss a step, Raffi definitely doesn't have two left feet and can often be the center of attention when Castor's friends notice the little kalon's moves. He was the talk of the party for a little while and Castor enjoyed all the praise, and didn't waste the opportunity to brag about it.
Raffi begged Castor to let him get dance lessons, and he happily agreed. Now, whenever grandpa Castor has a party, Raffi and his parents always attend, so not only can they wind down a long day with friends, but Raffi can practice his new moves he's learned from his dance classes.
Joseph (grandpa): Since Raffi is such a high-energy little kalon, he needs some time to wind down before he can get to sleep. Joseph is the one who does this. His chill personality works magic when it comes to cooling him down. Along with calming Raffi down before bed, he's also there for him when Raffi gets in any situation that gets him panicky and anxious. A warm hug from Joseph and his smooth voice reassuring him is all it takes for Raffi to take a deep breath and relax.
Joseph doesn't mind anyone as long as they don't mess with him... or his little buddy Raffi. The first time Raffi got bullied was at school when he striked-out in baseball that they were playing in gym that day. Since it was an incident about the sport, he first ran to Pete for guidance. And, though Pete did a good job comforting the kalon, he just couldn't compare to Joseph when he stepped in and took on the issue himself. Now, Raffi always goes to Joseph for help and by the end of their little talks, Raffi is just as chill as Joseph.
Talitha (aunt): The first time Raffi came home after visiting Talitha, his parents weren't too impressed by the sassy comments and sarcasm he'd learned. They told him to ease up on the remarks, and Raffi blurted out that he didn't need to follow his parents' rules. Well, a quick talk from a patient Percy, and Raffi learned about boundaries and how they are important. Talitha very much supported Percy and helped explain that she herself still sticks to certain rules. To help him understand more, Talitha took Raffi out to show him some real-life examples. One of Raffi's favourite rules to ignore was a sign at the pier in a lake that stated "no diving." Technically, Raffi didn't dive off the pier into the water... He cannonballed.
But most important of all, Talitha taught him that on Halloween, if someone leaves a bowl of candy out with a sign saying "take one", he can sneakily take two.
Raffi's parents certainly don't mind a low level of sarcasm from the boy and find it quite humorous. It has actually made Raffi a bit of a comedian when it comes to his sassy remarks!
Brianna (sister): Everyone knows the sibling rivalry that so many kalons have, especially Raffi. He never was a fan of his older sister. It was hard to play with her when she told him to go away. He was that annoying little brother, after all.
The two are not the best of friends, but they don't hate each other. It's normal for siblings to fights, and these two are no exception. Sometimes Brianna likes to hide Raffi's toy and request he gets her something in return. Raffi was often blackmailed into asking Pete for a cookie and giving it to his sister. And everyone in the family knows the "one cookie a day" rule, and Raffi wasn't tall enough to reach the cookie jar up on the counter, so he was pretty much hopeless in getting his own cookie.
At least, Raffi has learned some skills in sneakiness after having to conceal his dessert after dinner and hand it over to Brianna.
Samson (brother): Raffi has a hard time understanding why his brother cries so much. But when he does see Samson feeling upset, he mimics Joseph's techniques in calming him down.
Raffi has a good relationship with his brother. He likes to invite him to play and explore, and loves to play hide-and-seek with someone who isn't so big and tall that you find them right away. Hide and seek just doesn't work that well with the grown-ups. Samson is also a great builder when it comes to blanket-forts.
His brother is always there for him, and sometimes will even sacrifice his own cookie or dessert that night so Raffi can please Brianna, get back his toy, and have some dessert for himself. Which he doesn't hesitate to share with his helpful bro.
Personality: Raphael is just a happy-go-lucky, adventurous little kalon. He's a typical kit who thinks he's invincible and hasn't got a worry in the world. He's constantly pestering his family to play with him, and can be a bit annoying at times. He's still learning the world around him and is always excited to learn more about it! Raffi will never pass the opportunity to go outside on an adventure and have a great time. He prefers the outdoors over indoors, and one of his favourite activities is camping. Everything from sleeping in a tent to telling stories around the campfire, he loves the whole event. The s'mores don't hurt, either.

The sound of the bat hitting the ball rang in the air, quickly followed by the thump as Raffi dropped the bat and started running. Pete was standing, cheering him on. Raffi made it to first base and kicked up dust as he skidded to a stop.
The lip of his helmet shaded his eyes from the sun as he watched the next batter take their stance. Soon the same thwack of the ball and bat contacting alerted him to get moving, and he turned to see the batter racing towards him. Raffi sprinted to second base, alarmed by the fact that someone on the other team was headed for him, holding the ball in their paw. Raffi gritted his teeth and ran harder, then to his dismay, slipped and slid the last remaining feet to the base. his toe touched it. "Safe!" the gruff voice called out, and Raffi stood up, dusting himself off. He couldn't help but grin, pleased at how his slip-up looked so professional and meant-to-be, as if he hadn't messed up at all. The familiar crack reminded him he was in a game, and started running to third base. This time, he couldn't quite make it and the same gruff voice announced "Out!"
Raffi headed to the bench and his coach nodded his approval. He sat down and watched his teammates bat, and soon it was time for them to switch. Now the other team was at bat. The pitcher stretched his arm and got ready to throw the ball. The batter focused his sights and swung at the ball. "Strike one!" The batter shook himself off and prepared for another swing. Raffi got ready to retrieve the ball. Thwack! The ball soared in front of him. He jogged forward and missed the ball by a smidgen, but quickly scooped it up and threw it to a teammate who finished the job. "Out!" The game went on for about an hour before the teams cheered and shook each other's hands. The other team won, but that barely bothered anyone. Not even the winning team was making a big deal of it.
Raffi scooped up his jacket and water bottle, and Pete greeted him as he stepped out of the field. He put an arm around him, "Great job out there buddy!" with a great big smile. Raffi grinned back, "Thanks!" And, as they did after every game, Pete took Raphael out for some ice cream. Raffi chose double chocolate, Pete got strawberry.
They drove back to Castor's home so Raffi could visit his grandpa, and weren't surprised to see him making preparations for a party. "Another one?" Pete laughed. "Of course!" Castor replied, giving Pete and Raffi a hug hello. "Are you gonna dance for us tonight?" He asked the kit. He giggled and nodded his head. "Atta boy. I can't wait to see the new moves you learned in dance class!"
"I can't wait to show you, grandpa." Raffi said. Castor ruffled up the hair of Raffi's head and then ran off to find the snack bowl.
Raffi walked off to go find someone to play with. He'd ask Samson, but he was making decorations for the party. He found Brianna in the kitchen, munching on some chips. "Hey, aren't those for the party?" Raffi questioned. "Yeah, so?" his sister replied, still chowing down on the salty snacks.
Raffi shrugged. "I dunno. Can I have some?"
She tilted the bag so he could reach in and grab some chips. As he crinkled the bag, he asked, "Do you wanna go outside?"
"Can't," she replied, "I'm helping grandpa put out the snacks." She smirked. Raffi couldn't help but grin too.
He found Talitha lounging on the couch. "Hi Aunt Talitha!" He grinned, making her look up from her phone. "Oh hey, little man" she smiled. "What are you doing?" He asked, leaning in to look at her phone screen. Text bubbles filled up her screen, but it was no interest to Raffi since he couldn't read yet. "Nothing," she said, sitting up. "Oh, great! Then can
you play with me?" He asked with wide, hopeful eyes.
She stood up and grabbed her coat. "Sure, how about we head to the park?" she asked. Raffi nodded enthusiastically. "Great," she smiled. She walked into the other room and told Pete they were leaving, then led Raffi out the door and into the car. The park was a short drive away, and on the way there, they stopped at a fast food place where Talitha bought them some fries. Then she asked for a cup so she could get water from the soda machine, and they handed her a clear plastic cup. She filled it with soda, not caring that they could see her, and actually feeling quite satisfied with her small act of crime. She handed him the cup and they walked out, and Raffi took a sip of the fizzy drink. "See Raff?" She grinned. "Some rules are okay to break, only once in a while."
Raffi smiled back and watched the coloured drink swish around in the cup as they finished their drive to the park.
There, they sat under a young oak tree and caught the attention of a wily crow, who strut around them, eyeing the fries. Raffi threw one to the bird and laughed at the way it gulped it down. He himself licked the salt off his paws, then rubbed them in the damp grass to get rid of the remaining greasiness.
After an hour or two of walking around and making a very important stop at the playground, they headed back home knowing the party would start soon. When it did, Raffi was happy to impress his friends and family with what he'd learned at the latest dance class. He heard Castor a few feet away bragging about his talent. The party was going great, and when Raffi stopped dancing for a snack break, he noticed that Brianna had been kind enough to leave half the bag for the party guests. He joined her on the couch and asked her what she thought about the party. Maybe the sibling rivalry wasn't much of a rivalry at all.
