Goliath bent down, buckling his paws into the snowboard. He stood up, breathing in the mountain air, and reached up to position his goggles. He was ready.
Narrowing his eyes, Goliath shifted his weight forward and he slowly started to move. Living in solidarity was difficult, especially as a viscling, but it was times like these he appreciated. The mountain was his to conquer alone, and everything in sight was his. The blue-white viscet neared the edge of the slope, and gave one final jerk. Goliath moved with expertise, gliding down the mountain's side with no problem. The trees and boulders rushed past, and before he knew it, he was at the bottom of the mountain.
"Welp, time to go back up," He said to himself, slightly annoyed at the upcoming trek. Goliath searched for the safest and fastest way up, and spotted a narrow passage surrounded by trees. He picked up his board and headed in that direction, before stopping entirely when he heard something. He perked his small ears, and looked around him. The howling wind didn't help him, and it blew in his ears, making him shiver. He sniffed the air, then shook himself, heading back for the passage way.
The way up was less enjoyable, although Goliath was perfectly suited for the conditions. His thick fur and strong, burly build had helped him while living in the mountains, even though he was oblivious to his differences. The surrounding trees felt as if they were closing in on Goliath, and so he quickened his pace to a light trot. Snow was kicking up behind him, and the wind hadn't stopped. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, blocked all other senses, and told himself to stop being such an idiot. He opened his eyes, and hardly took one step before something was on top of him.
He dropped his snowboard with a yelp. It - or they - was his size and strong. The creature was no match for Goliath though, as he threw the animal off, into a snowbank, and pinned the snowy creature to the ground.
He slowly examined it. It looked like another viscling, although covered with tons of snow and very different looking from him. Before he could think any further, the viscet-creature spoke.
"Are you just going to stare at me, or fight me?" They growled, not a drop of fear in it's eyes.
"Well - I - umm," Goliath stammered, before restarting. "I won't fight you unless you try to attack me again."
"Huh. Well, I was just playing around, so if you'd remove yourself from me, that'd be great," They laughed a little, but strained under Goliath's grip.

"Oh, uh, sorry." He paused before adding, "What are you?"
"What am I?" They stared at him for a moment, laughter in their eyes. He shook out his fur, but most of the white stayed. "I could ask you the same thing pal. I'm a viscet, and my name is Amadeus. How'd you get way out here?"
"I live up there" He lifted his nose to the mountain before looking back at Amadeus. "I'm a viscet too, but we don't look the same..."
"And your name?" Amadeus asked, rolling his eyes.
"Oh, yeah. I'm Goliath," He answered, oblivious to his improper manners and speech. Amadeus was the only viscet besides his family he'd ever seen, and even then, Amadeus looked like a relative. His fur was as bright as his, if not brighter.
"Goliath." Amadeus said, thinking about the name. "It suits you. Do you live alone up there?"

"Yep," Goliath answered curtly, before walking over and picking up his snowboard. It was scratched, but nothing terrible.
"How? Its so cold and it would be lonely. At least I have Mozart," Amadeus continued.
"Who's that?" Goliath asked, his curiosity taking over. He liked this viscet, however strange he may be.
"This guy," He chuckled, holding up a small animal. "He goes everywhere with me."
Goliath twitched an ear before asking, "Where are you going?" However much he liked to be alone, he loved this newfound company.
"To see the northern lights. Its always been a dream of mine," Amadeus said, gazing off into the distance.
"Oh, I see those all the time!" Goliath said, leaping up in the air. "Would you like me to take you?"
"Would I? I'd love to!" Amadeus said, excited as a newborn viscling. "You also seem like you could use some company, so why don't I take you under my wing for a bit?"
Not understanding the phrase, but seeing the excited gleam in Amadeus's eyes, Goliath agreed. "Sure, I'd love that." He smiled, and looked back at Amadeus and his rat. "Ready?"
"Lead on, Goliath!" Amadeus said, eagerly following his new companion and adopted youngling to his dream destination.
