A gentle breeze found its way through the glade, bending through the trunks of the trees and along the vast expanses of grass. Flowers sprung up in patches, bright petals shifting and moving as a whole mass. Everything seemed as it should, a peaceful silence descending upon the glade; although, a mass of green and brown seemed to be curled upon one of the patches of daises. The white petals stretched up, tickling the animal's nose much like the feathers of a bird. As the constant tickling continued, a sneeze echoed from the lump of fur, and a head lifted itself from the bed of daises. One look at the young face, and the mass could be recognized as none other than Asahi, a plumerian who frequented in visiting the lush glade.

Groggy, aquamarine eyes fluttered open, as Asahi found himself having been bothered by the constant teasing from the daises. Slowly he rose to his paws, pelt shaking lightly to rid himself of anything that was not his own fur. Taking in his surroundings, the child was relieved to find that nothing had changed since he had arrived; the wind continued to blow, the grass still had its vibrant green colour, and birds fluttered to and fro from the surrounding foliage. Once more he settled down, instead sitting in an upright position and tucking his tail over his paws.

It had been two weeks or so now that Asahi had visited the glade on a daily basis. His family had just moved from a small village in the confines of Japan, to the large city of Tokyo. Being a naturally anxious plumerian, he did not adjust very well to such a busy lifestyle, and the strain from school was beginning to weigh heavily on him. And so, this was the place that gave little Asahi a chance to calm himself down, and to sort his thoughts. This glade was unknown to many humans and sentient creatures alike, but he was guessing that living on the edge of a city could have its perks.

Pushing all things aside, Asahi closed his eyes, trying to bring back the feeling of what life used to be like. He could remember the clear air and the dirt roads, many of his own kind padding along to journey to places beyond. The dust and grains of sand would blow up into his eyes, but the sound of bustling paws and other children begging him to play would make it ten times easier to brush off the uncomfortable feeling. Soon, the familiar smell of his grandma's homemade cooking reached his nose. But when Asahi opened his eyes, nothing but the sight of the glade and the smell of fresh dew greeted him. Yet, a smile graced his gentle features, for he had remembered how his mother often told him he was like the morning sun; that his heart and face had a gentle glow that drew others in and was soothing; a truly beautiful soul.
