I think this one suits Gavin's personality really well, since he's usually very sarcastic and snarky, and this meme fits that perfectly. Plus, he's a game developer so he practically lives on gaming and the internet. That's one of the reasons why it says noob in the drawing I made, and because the actual word is inappropriate for CS c:

Gavin develops games for Ubisoft, which is a dream job for him because he loves Assassin’s Creed so much. He mostly works on coding the games, though he does dabble in a bit of graphic design and animation. He had studied it in college after all, and doesn’t want what he learned to go to waste so easily. Plus, Gavin does love drawing, and it’s always fun for him to see how characters in his head turn out in the three dimensional world. That, and he loves his animating style as well, which he claims to be more abstract.
Gavin has worked on a number of games for Ubisoft, some of which were published and most of which weren’t, or haven’t been yet. His favorite set of games to work on have been the Myst games. Not only was it fun to help create some of the graphics in the game, but it was the first game where he had some say in its development process. There were three Myst games overall that they worked on, his favorite one have been Myst V: End of Ages. It was so beautiful and picturesque, the gameplay was great, and the storyline was beyond fantastic. Gavin has played it many times since, never failing to appreciate how amazing the game is.
He got into game programming during a class he took in his senior year of high school, and decided to pursue a degree in programming in college. It was really a win-win for him, since he didn’t have to be pressured into a scientific field by his parents. He had managed to convince them that it was a field worth studying, and they had reluctantly let him go along with his career choice. He got to do something he loved, and he got to go to the college of his choice as well. And to top it all off, he got hired by Ubisoft about two or three years after he earned his degree. In his words, “As pop culture might phrase it: coding is bae. Now leave me alone.”

In a nutshell: Gavin doesn’t care. Of course, he loves his job and his work, plus he earns money from it, but in regards to anything else, that statement applies. Whatever pops in his mind comes out of his mouth, whether it be a snarky comment or downright mean insult. There’s no filter on him, and no matter how hard his coworkers try to get him to be better, Gavin ends up reverting. And there’s the fact that he’s a rebel by nature, so trying to force him into doing something that he doesn’t want to do ends up with him doing the exact opposite. Oftentimes, his thoughts move faster than he can speak, causing him to forgot what he’s just said, what he wants to say, or he just ends up scrambling his words into an incoherent statement that he doesn’t even understand himself. If he’s really tired or stressed out, he’ll do the same thing. Gavin will ask silly, and even stupid, questions from time to time, and statements that he can decipher but others can’t. Most people find these phrases irritating and pointless, which often makes them mad, which often leads to an argument between two other people that Gavin started. This is what he goes for. A lot of times, he shows up to work with no goal in mind other than to piss people off that day. But when he does show up with a serious mindset, he does get a lot done. When coding, he mutters to himself. And if he gets bored or tired of his work, Gavin goes up to others programmers and points out nonexistent mistakes in their code until they kick him out of their office. To describe him in more set personality traits, Gavin is brutally honest, rude, ill tempered, easy to read, analytical, logical, non-empathetic, and basically a jerk. Besides himself and work, the only thing that he cares about is food.

ｂａｃｋｓｔｏｒｙ
Gavin grew up in Los Angeles, California. He was born into a relatively rich family, so he wasn’t stuck in the worst parts of town. He was always close with his parents, more his mother than his father. Gavin has no siblings, but he does have a lot of cousins. His mother died when he was fifteen in a car crash. He did not blame himself for causing her death, as even then he was still too young to really understand to understand what had been going on in his life. His father then took control over his life, controlling everything he did. Gavin couldn’t go anywhere or do anything without his permission, always calling him “sir”. He didn’t realize how autonomous he had become, almost like a robot. Slowly, as he aged, Gavin grew into a more rebellious, snarky man. He left his home at nineteen, and went to college on his own expenses, refusing to ask his father for any help. He rarely spoke to him after that, moving to San Francisco where Ubisoft is based. He applied their company and interviewed with them, working a few odd jobs here and there while he waited for a response. Several months later, he got a job on their team. He’s been working with Ubisoft for about a year and a half now.

ａｂｏｕｔ ｔｈｅ ｃｈａｒａｃｔｅｒ
First off, I’d like to say that this character is loosely based off of Gavin Free from Rooster Teeth/Achievement Hunter. Though, he isn’t as British, and is much more sarcastic (though equally confusing). I really fell in love with this guys design when I first saw him, and I couldn’t help but to fall in love with the hairstyle and simplicity of it. I immediately saw a character that I could love, draw, and develop, and the idea of a rude, game loving nerd popped into my mind. The more I worked on writing stuff for him and throwing ideas out, the more I connected to the character I created. I can already see a lot of potential for developing him through more writing and art, and answering questions from his point of view in the fan club. I’ve had a lot of fun getting to know the character I created better, and of course making art was a blast since his hair is so fun to draw and it doesn’t take me forever c: thank you for creating this lovely design Saturnus!
