"Our long bygone burdens,
mere echoes of the spring,
but where have we come,
and where shall we end?
If dreams can't come true,
then why not pretend?"
Characters
The winds may breeze on silver fur,
but never will it change
Sticks and stones on sky blue paws,
but never will they stop
Feathers light as northern snow,
they will never fly away
Mind as changing as the tides,
to never return back home
Mayberry is something you call a travelling gypsy. She doesn't have a place to live, or a place she has to be. She lifes a free life on the road, always moving and never really settling down anywhere. What she carries with her is a carriage filled with exotic spices that she sells for money. And nobody, including herself, knows what shes saving up the money for.
Her life hasn't always been like this. She was under the coldest conditions at winter times and she had a small chance of surviving, at least from where she lived at the time. Her father was a stubborn guy and didn't want to move anywhere even if it counted on their daughters life, and her mother put down her foot on that. So at night when her father was sleeping, her mother layed her on her back and wrapped her in a scarf before she bolted off towards a warmer place to be. Her idea worked out well, but they never saw her father again.
Where she grew up was deep into the Amazon forest, a place where they weren't alone. She grew up to be more healthy and happy then she could have been before and were always surrounded by other plumerian kits to play with. It wasn't until a special plumerian visited that her fate changed.
The golden rays of the morning sun peeked between the thick branches of the trees, and the sound of giggling and playful growls where already rumbling there. Three small plumerians jumped around, playfighting with each other and waking up the adults as it was time for the day to begin.
"You can't catch me!" said a young Mayberry, a playful smirk drawn on her face as she ran around with the other two chasing her by the tail. Being so young, they didn't have a worry in their life and wouldn't have any in a few years. The worry and responsibilities where given to the adults for now.
"Mayberry! Your uncle is here!" Her mother called, making her make a sudden stop and the others crashing into her back. Her face lighted up like a star and she bolted off towards her mother and the other plumarians who stood there. And in the distance, they could see a silhuette of her uncle and his big carriage. He looked like her mother, only darker, and where more accessorized. He had braded feathers from birds from places he had been, into his fur and had a crimson scarf around his neck. The carriage was filled with weird fruit and vegetables that gave off a smell lurking for her curiosity. Mayberry's eyes widened and she smiled big as she started to run towards him.
"May! How good to see you!" he said and chuckled as the little plumerian swung around his neck. It had been forever since she last saw him and she was more then happy that he had arrived.
As the day went by, it started to darken and the stars twinkled over them as they had gathered under a tree by a little fire.
"Can't you tells us a story, uncle? Of where you have been?" Mayberry asked exited as she cuddled up beside him. Her friends sat there too and looked at her uncle with big eyes, just as exited as her.
"Well then" he chuckled lightly. "I've been far away this time. To a land where theres nothing but sand. It had to walk for several days before finding water and it felt like it was longer from each water hole I found. And the creatures who lived there, my where they special! A small, black bug with it's tail sticking up approached me and started to sting me with the tail. I managed to trap it under my paw and he explained that it was venomous. The next day, I met a weird couple. A small canine with big ears and looked like a beige fox, and the other was really tall and had bumps on it's back. It looked like a weird horse, if you ask me. They helped me get water and to send me in the right direction to get back here" he finished off and smiled, looking at the amazed faces of the kits sitting around him. It was such a pleasure to have someone be so overwhelmed and amazed by his stories every time he came back.
Mayberry smiled and cuddled up to him, yawning slowly. Another amazing story from a amazing uncle, she though to herself. She wanted to be just like him, even thou her mother didn't really want her to. But this time, she was sure about it.
"I will become just like you, uncle! I wanna be a gypsy!"
All thats dear may call her name,
but never will her eyes look back
Memories may haunt her dreams,
but never will she have any regret
She is the gypsy, the travelling one
And never will she wish to be
someone lesser known
She waited each day of her short life until she was old enough to go out on her own, to tell her mother. She knew what the reaction would be and had therefor planned everything and would leave right after telling. The reaction she got was both negative and positive, but she didn't have any time to respond as the world was waiting for her.
She didn't really know what she wanted to do or what kind of gypsy she wanted to be. But after travelling to those sand lands as her uncle had talked about, she discovered spices. Their exotic smell and uncanny taste gave her a spark and she knew that she had to get more. So from that time, she has been going all around from place to place getting spices in any color and flavor there is.
● Action speak more then words,
is that why I move from place to place?
The search for a somewhere to call my home,
now the never ending race
To the horizon, the end of the world
is where my eyes has set it's goal
To places my feet as never walked,
will bring my head, my mind and my soul
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
