Why does he/she love jade?: Shakunt is attracted to jade because he has a strong sense of valuable materials, and loves the green color. Naturally valued things have always intrigued Shakunt.
Personality: Shakunt is very stoic and quiet. He doesn't talk to others much, but learns much by observing. He has a keen eye, a strong spirit, and a sympathetic streak. Must assume he is shy, but in truth, he just prefers not to talk much.

Appearance…
Aside from what we know from the photographs provided, we can assume by his name and the Persian styled clothing he dawns, that he is of a persian background.

Culprits target patterns…
The culprit seems to have a fondness for items of extreme rarity, the only exceptions that have been seen are items embedded or solely jade. There is not one set location where his ‘attacks’ take place. His signature (a bluejay’s feather in the place of the item. Which may indicate he wishes us to know it was him who committed the crime. Or at least he wishes to notify someone.) is left in the place of the item and no other traces are left. Strangely, none of the items stolen by the culprit have been found in the black market. Furthermore he has never (that we know of) stolen money, therefore it is believed he has no interest in profit. It is safe to assume that he may still have the items in his possession. If apprehended the items may be retrieved.

Obsession with jade…
We were once able to intercept a letter sent by the culprit, this is what it contained;

“My obsession with jade you ask?
Very well, I do not have much time, so forgive my briefness. This fondness mine goes to when I was a small boy.

I lived with my family,I was particularly close with my mother as my father was constantly absent due to his… career. My mother was, and to this day the most beautiful women I have ever laid my eyes on. Her eyes were the color of pure jade. One day I had ventured into the town to do my duties as a merchant's son when I spotted the most extravagant necklace embedded with jade and swirls of white gold. As a family of merchants we lacked certain… luxuries however as I gazed on this necklace I knew it was something made solely for my mother.

I had money with me, but only enough to buy the necessary supplies, I remember looking down considering the purchase rather than food for the family. That was the last time I ever considered buying something. Rather, I stole the necklace, it was far too easy and my first… and by far not the last. It awoke my true self and led me to my destiny.”

Midga's only connection to her past is her necklace. She knows that it is from her mother, by the engraving on the back of the jade pendant. She regards jade as sacred, and therefore collects it. She also believes it to have mystical power, and strengthens a person's connection to the spiritual, or could possibly open a inter-dimensional portal between the two dimensions. She adorns herself with it since it makes her feel more powerful and secure. Like her mother is close to her and is protecting her.

Midga was on her own since she was 10. She had no memories, for she awoke in an intense care hospital room. The only connection to her past was her jade necklace. She was always an oddball. But who could blame her? No parents, siblings, family.... no friends. She was shunned all through her years, right up to this point.

Growing up alone, in foster care, took its toll on Midga, since she grew up very isolated, with almost no education. The other kids feared her, since Midga, to them, was a witch. They fled from her like they'd flee from someone with a highly contagious disease. It wasn't Midga's fault, though. From her moments in the hospital, to her time in foster care, she always had strange visions, dreams and spoke in strange ways. It was also following a pattern, so everyone who was superstitious or was a child believed her to be cursed, while sensible adults thought that Midga was just crazy, insane from her "freak accident" which caused her amnesia.

The visions became stronger as the years went by, and when Midga turned 15, she was finally out of the world. She no longer cared what others thought of her, and embraced herself, as she concluded, to be a person with a deep connection to the spiritual world. She called herself a Seer, since she could predict short things that would happen in the future. It started small, but ended up developing into the ability to on demand predict the events within the next month. Before she turned 16, Midga was out of the foster home. She ran away before the cops could send her to a mental hospital, since the foster parents grew to fear her.

As a middle-aged teenager, Midga grew up on the streets, surviving by earning money by selling predictions of the future. By 18, Midga was a fully developed Seer. It was her life, she could do pretty much anything, she scared the life out of most people, since she spoke little, but was painstakingly accurate. Midga seemed to be the ultimate spiritual prophetess, but she was deeply disturbed by herself at the same time. Her visions where painful, literally. It was almost as if she was simply a spirit, walking around like a ghost, like she didn't believe she even existed.

Why does he love jade?: It was a gift from his sister, a woman he was destined to never see again. She had the beauty of a goddess, while he had the roughness of a lost brigand. She was out exploring Asia, with her father, picking up souvenirs for her little brother as they went from country to country. They were there trying to uncover lost secrets, a historical hide and seek, secrets that had been buried beneath the surface of culture and religion for years, secrets that could get them killed. Nefrit feared that he would never see his beloved sister again, always, always checking the mail everyday, waiting for a letter or a postcard or a small gift. She came back once with jade in her hands, only staying at home for a day before she left, but told wondrous stories of its rich history and legends. Since then, Nefrit has been obsessed with jade, adventuring after its secrets. He has spent his entire life collecting it, looking for pieces to a legendary puzzle that is said to lead the discoverer to the great goddess Prakriti who will grant them one wish. Nefrits wish? To see his sister one last time. ( 198 / 200 )

Why he has a watch on his tail: { from the point of view of Nefrit }
Time is a valuable thing. Most do not realize that the ticking seconds of their empty lived stretch into days and years, and they realize just how much of their life is gone. Blank, unwritten. You ignore time and it passes by in the blink of an eye. You ignore it and suddenly you've become old and tired, your body is no longer what it use to be. You've done nothing, and suddenly you have time for nothing. Old dreams that you didn't accomplish die with you now.
But not for me. I watch time carefully. I refuse to let it slip through my paws as I search for my sister and chase after the jade's legend. I keep a watch on my tail to remind me that time is ticking, that while I may be young now, I will not be young forever. I may chase small dreams, but I should not lose sight of the big ones because I've become sidetracked. Time is everything to me. If I had all of the time in the world, I wouldn't worry. But I am limited by the watch on my tail, and the span of my life. Time will not stop my dreams.
