Favorite time of day: Keimei loves it just when the sun is rising. She always wakes up super early to watch it, and she will always take either a snack or a book (sometimes both) out with her.

It was very early, about 5:00 in the morning. Keimei draped her green blanket around her back. She also grabbed the plate filled with sushi she made last night. Careful not to tip it over, she walked onto the dock outside her house. Keimei looked up and saw a faint orange streak on the horizon. She sat down on a lawn chair that she always kept there. She felt the softness of her blanket on her back, like an angel's wings. The water was as smooth as glass, and the birds were starting to sing. Keimei started nibbling on a piece of sushi. She wished she had brought a book, but it was too late for that. She sat there for about an hour, singing to herself and thinking about what she would do today. She looked up, and saw the beauty of the sunrise. The sky was shining like a roof of the golden palace in the sky, which Keimei's mother used to read to her. There, all the angels lived and sang, like a birdsong, but with words. The trees in the distance looked like black ink spots against the painted sky. Like a blemish to a painting. But it looked very pretty. It was a cloudless dawn, and Keimei liked those the most. She finished up her last piece of sushi and watched as the sun ascended into the air. It was like a dream, except it was real.
