My Job
" Hey! Come Back Here! " An Officer shouted. My heart pounded. I ran as fast as I could, but the bag was weighing me down. I turned the corner and I felt heat on my back as I heard a loud boom. I smirked and looked back, still racing towards the forest. The cops were still on my trail, but they had a long ways to catch up. As soon as I hit the cover of the trees, I stopped. I held my breath until I was sure the cops were gone, than lied down on the cool earth, opening the sack to peer inside. Sitting there were diamonds glittering in the moonlight. I had pulled off another robbery. Suddenly, a flashlight shined next the the bush I was hiding in. I quickly shut the bag and tiptoed off into the forest, my pelt blending into the shadows of the trees and I left the city behind me. " Hometown, done. Next stop, Washington D.C. " I climbed a tree and slept, dreaming of the endless riches I'd soon have.
Now, I only have to get there.
My Backstory
Well, I wasn't always a professional burglar. I used to live in a small town, not far from the coast. My family was poor, but we got by. It was a nice, calm life. But on my 7th birthday, my life turned upside down. I was alone, my parents out getting groceries. I saw a candle, and was curious why it was flickering. I grabbed it, and became mesmerized by the steady, soft light. And I tried to touch it. I screeched and dropped it on the ground, my paw seriously burnt. Our little wood house caught aflame, and I ran outside and watched it burn. My eyes were teary, I couldn't tell anyone or see my parents disappointed face. So I ran. Away into the forest, into the night, away from my home which I loved so dearly. I slept in the trees, looking to the stars, and wondering why do I make everything worse? I looked for somebody to take me in, but they all frowned when they saw my scrawny body and filthy pelt. I was no use to anybody, and too feeble to work. So I stole. I stole and stole, and I never got caught. Because if I got caught, they'd take me to the orphanage. Known to most around at that time as Hell, once you were put in, there was no getting out. The woman who ran it was cruel, mean, and vicious. She would beat you if did anything to displease her. One night, in the rain, the woman drove away to get some supplies. I snuck in and set the orphans free. Or at least most of them. One orphan spared herself to save the others, staying behind in order to hold the gates open just long enough to get everyone out. Everyone except her. After that night, nobody even saw or heard of her again. I protected the orphans, feeding them and caring for them until I found each one a home with a family. Now I was the only one without a family. I kept stealing, and got good at it. Soon I had enough money to fly to Washington D.C., and rob the president himself.
