you are my sweetest downfall
i loved you first, i loved you first
beneath the stars came fallin' on our heads
but they're just old light, they're just old light
your hair was long when we first met
samson came to my bed
told me that my hair was red
told me I was beautiful and came into my bed
oh I cut his hair myself one night
a pair of dull scissors in the yellow light
and he told me that I'd done alright
and kissed me 'til the mornin' light, the mornin' light
and he kissed me 'til the mornin' light
you are my sweetest downfall
i loved you first

Every battle that was thrown at her, she won, except for this one.
Sasha was intelligent, clever, cunning, and didn't take impossible for an answer. Her biting words kept everyone on their toes, especially us. We were the ones who she sent out to fight, the ones who sacrificed their families and lives to make sure that everything would go as planned. We were respected, not to be messed with. We were a family of hard shells and even harder interiors. The battles that the Admiral put us through measured us as fighters and as beings.
Her thoughts were mathematical, analytic, almost impossible to decipher. She expected you to understand what she said the first time, or you would be repeating it for the rest of the day while doing push ups. She held herself straight, sturdy, an unmovable object in the course that we called war. Her only flaw, was the undying love that she was able to harness.
Despite her cold outlook and harsh exterior, the Admiral had an admirer. Her true love and she were never allowed to publicly be seen as a couple, but she stubbornly kept going on. They were for each other, both very respected officers, each held the key and lock to the other. Nobody ever saw them together, but everyone knew they were.
The fight was long, a clash of claws and swords and quick thinking. We lost a lot of our brothers and sisters, but their resolve only added to ours. With each fallen brother, another rose up to fight and take their place and give them honor. It was the best you could get, fighting for the Admiral who kept us alert and on point, and dying in her name.
We had joined forces, in hopes of defeating the enemy with precision and speed. The two Admirals controlled our fleets and our lives, making sure the battle would be won with the least amount of casualties. We were plotted and placed, controlled like pawns in a chess set, all graduated to knights of power. With each move, we took a piece, until finally, we hit check.
The army was at a standstill, and we took some time to regroup. It was like we paused time itself. Our admirals talked for a long time. We had three days of peace where the armies came together and conversed, sharing stories and songs. The final night, we heard fighting from the admirals. Sasha refused to stay back at base as her loved one went forth. She was always with us, and our army could not fight without the calls and orders from her. We became restless, wondering why she was suggested that staying back would be wise.
The next day, we charged. Our plan was an ambush of the enemy base. As we tore through, shredding our enemies and fighting for our families, the water became red with watered down blood. I saw our admiral charging to the front lines, yelling, and everything became silent. No one had seen such behavior from her, and we were stopped in our tracks. Time slowed as I saw her fly forward, eyes blazing and sword drawn at the other army's lieutenant, who had just kicked the body of her lover down into a crevice. At the same time, the lieutenant swung around and sliced through her stomach. She barely flinched as she impaled the other and quickly brought the sword up. In the moment of confusion brought by the sudden death of one of the admirals, and the quick disappearance into the crevice from the other, our army almost could not fight. Brethren fell this way and that, and I fought on. I don't remember the rest of the fight, only that upon our retreat, our admiral appeared once more and apologized.
"I did not mean for any of this to happen. Please forgive me."
Her voice was distant as she left, abdomen bleeding and sword dragging behind her. This was the last anyone had seen of her.
We later learned that she had retired. It came as a shock, such a respected and decorated officer leaving the ranks, never to lead another army. The medic told us that she was suggested to stay back because she was pregnant, but because of the damage she sustained, the child was lost.
Our army continued to fight. We were given a new admiral, someone from the team itself. Of course, we gave him our respect, but as hard as he tried, he could never be Sasha. I never heard from her again, but in the darkness of my mind, I sometimes hear her calling out orders in our fights, seeing her cut through enemies and defend the family she proudly called her own. My final memory of her face was that she had shed one tear, but in that one tear, the sadness of thousands of souls, and one of her own, was kept and dropped into the sea that we live in.

name, please.}
Admiral Sasha Kalinkov. Sasha was born in China and raised in the Bering Sea, harsh and wild waters made for a strict and direct Mako who demanded respect, but didn't force it out of the people who fought under her. Sasha refuses to be called Sasha on its own, only Kalinkov. Her name means warrior, defender of mankind, and she strives to live up to her name. Although retired, she still carries herself as a wise and clever leader, pushing everyone to limits they did not know they had.
gender, if you could.}
Female. The red hues of her pelt were straight from her mother, and the cream body a piece of her father. The black markings, both parents had and it manifested into a beautiful and intricate design. Her features are lean but strong, and she cannot be mistaken for a man. Sasha simply will simply not allow it.
state your origins.}
Born in chinese seas, Sasha's birth name was Xinshang, or "new mountain" Her parents had given her this name a while after she was born, after realizing she was immovable in her beliefs and in her desicions. She is a capricorn, goal oriented and strong. Her mother was chinese and father russian, making for a last name of Kalinkov. As she grew older and gained an interest in fighting for a cause, she moved into colder seas and adopted the name Sasha.
please describe yourself, soldier.}
With a mind like a labyrinth and a body like steel, Sasha lives up to her name. She is strict and harsh, making sure that even without the title in front of her name, she is respected. Her resolve is almost unmatchable, when she sets her mind to something, she will not quit and find out everything she needs to know to continue her pursuit. In battle she is fierce, reading her opponents carefully and attacking where they least expect it. Her headstrong attitude may be a bit of a shocker at first, something you do not expect when you first try to talk to her. Sasha's way of speaking is curt and to the point. She does not dawdle around a question and answers exactly what was asked. Her candid way of being herself is what some may think is her downfall, but it's truly the way she devotes herself to a cause. The mako's undying stubbornness to keep going is what makes her run, what makes her fight, what makes her be her. Sasha never gives up, and will keep on fighting till the very end, regardless of the consequences.
Despite the loss of her husband and the loss of her unborn child, she still refuses to give up in hopes of living for them and seeing what they could not. After fighting and going through so many battles, the retired life makes her antsy. She is constantly on the move, never in one place for too long, afraid of those memories of bloodshed and battle catching up to her. She desires to keep on living, despite what she had been through. After all, what doesn't kill you, absolutely makes you stronger.
