I choose this name mainly because of the definitions of the word. I feel that both of the definitions of this word, cynosure, suit this Mako incredibly well.
Definition 1. Something that strongly attracts attention by its brilliance, interest, etc.
I believe that though this could be based on personal preference, many others would agree with me when I say that this Mako is most definitely fitting of this definition!
Definition 2. Something serving for guidance or direction.
Noticing the treasure map-like qualities of this Mako's markings, this second definition of cynosure, also seems to be spot on!

WHY THAT NAME?: A Log pose is a special compass in an anime called 'One Piece' which I've been obsessing over for the past few months. It's about this group of pirates who are traveling an ocean called the 'Grand Line' in search of new adventures. Now, in the 'Grand Line' normal compasses don't work and would just spin aimlessly around. The Log Pose however connects to the magnetic felids of the islands and can direct a crew to saftey.
