I stepped out of the taxi, Faith climbing out behind me.
We had done it. We were in New York! School started back in a little over a week, so we were only staying of the weekend. This had been a last minute plan, and we had had just enough money to buy plane tickets. My mom had given Faith and I money to eat with and do a little shopping.
Faith and I grabbed our bags, walking into our hotel. We had already paid for the weekend.
"Oh Savannah, isn't this great!" Faith squealed happily when we had reached our room. I nodded, smiling brightly.
I sat down on my bed for a moment, looking at the city through a large window. Faith had already started unpacking, so I joined her.
"I found us a place to eat tonight," I smiled happily, hanging up some clothes in the closet.
"Really?" Faith sounded excited. "What is it?"
"A secret," I laughed, laying my suitcase and carry-on bag in the floor of the closet.
When Faith finished unpacking, I moved her bags to the floor as well, then closed the closet, jumping back onto my bed. I checked the time, seeing we had two hours to get to the restaurant.
"We should get ready. Our reservation is in two hours." I smiled, walking toward the bathroom.

When we had gotten ready, we called a taxi and I gave the man the address to the restaurant. We got there just in time.
A waiter led us to our table, asking us what we wanted to drink. A few moments later, he came back with our drinks.
"Would you like a moment to look over the menu?" He asked, smiling at us.
"Yes, please," I nodded to him, picking up my menu.
I took a sip of my drink, flipping through the pages of the menu.
"Do you know what you're getting, Savannah?" Faith asked me, putting her menu down.
"Yep!" I smiled, putting mine on top of her's and moving them to the edge of the table.
When the waiter returned, we ordered our food, handing him the menus.
When he left, I looked at Faith, "Should we shop tomorrow or go sightseeing?" I asked, putting my napkin in my lap.
Faith thought for a moment then said, "Let's go sightseeing tomorrow and then shop the next," She smiled, putting her napkin in her lap as well.
I nodded and smiled. "Sounds great!"
About twenty minutes later, our food arrived. As soon as the waiter walked away, I dug in. I was starving!
Faith seemed to be hungry too, because she finished before me. I finished my drink and got out my wallet.
"I'm paying for dinner tonight," I said, handing her my wallet. "I'm going to run to the restroom real quick so if he brings our ticket, pay with my card," I smiled at Faith, walking toward the bathroom.
When I returned, the ticket had been paid, but Faith was gone. Where was she? I asked our waiter if he had seen her and he shook his head.
I swallowed hard, my heart feeling a little fluttery. I quickly looked around the restaurant, then I checked the bathroom again.
She was no where to be found.
I walked out of the restaurant, rushing down the street. I pushed through the crowd, other kias looking at me like I was crazy.
"Faith!" I called out, turning down a nearby street. I was running now.
"Faith! Faith, where are you?!" I screamed.
I had lost my friend. In New York.
By now, I was almost back to the hotel, so I kept running. I ran up to our hotel room. Still, Faith was no where to be found. My heart pounded and I thought I might start crying.
I left the hotel, out of breath, racing back toward the restaurant. I had searched the streets up and down.
I sat down on a street corner, breathing heavily. I pull my knees to my chest, resting my head on them. When I catch my breath, I pull out my phone.
Should I call the cops? I think for a moment, and put my phone away. I stand up, walking toward the Police Department.
When I turn a corner, I feel a hand on my shoulder. It's Faith.
"Got ya!" She yells, hugging me tightly.
"Faith, I hate you!" I yell, but I can't help but smile. Faith had pulled a prank on me. Of course I was a little bit mad, but I could never stay mad at her.
I hug her back, but say softly, "Don't worry, I'll get you back."
