Sly shadows, they do creep,
Cascading over all who sleep,
Taken were all they could reap,
Left behind was only what could weep.

When, silent as a bat,
He fell into mortal combat,
Courtesy was lost in the rat,
For all who saw the acrobat.

As a night warrior,
He cast a clear barrier,
Over all which he was the carrier,
To catch those who were inferior.

With strength supreme,
He found those in dream,
And cast them far from esteem,
Where there was no chance of redeem.

His spirit soar with cunning,
To fight all who he was shunning,
He allowed no warning,
For their defeat was shortcoming.

I am going all out on this one. I want him so bad. . .

Downn - Don't forget the second N.

Name of Kia
Abornazine - meaning 'keeper of the flame.' Abor for short.

Gender
Male

Symbol
The symbol above this app is, indeed, the symbol painted on the other side of him. It is a flame.

History
"Abornazine!" The booming voice of his father echoed across the plains.

Abornazine looked up from the paint spilled on the ground that he had just previously been splashing in. "Yes, papa?" he asked, his voice a tiny squeak.

"What did I tell you about playing in the paint?" His father sighed at the look of shame and fear on his tiny son's face. His voice changing to a kind one, he said, "It's okay, Abor." Deciding to comfort the child instead of scolding him, Abornazine's father continued. "When you are big and strong, the day you get your feathers, you will get paint. Paintings of symbols, the paint of a warrior."

Abor's scared look turned into one of excitement. "I want paint," he yelped happily. He blinked as a question came to mind. "What are the paintings of, papa?"

"Whatever has had the most meaning to your life."

Abornazine was very small during this little encounter. He hadn't even begun to grow his horns, and of course he didn't have his feathers. But he still remembers it all the same. Ever since then, and until the day he got them, Abor would dream of what his war paintings would be. But he never imagined they would mean something darker than anything he had ever experienced.

~

As Abornazine grew, he learned all he could; about his people, his tribe, the animals around them-- Abor loved to hear it. He would listen to the stories of long ago from his elders, and watched the land in case any stories of his own would turn up. Still, he felt in awe of the war paints that all the greatest Kia's in his tribe had.

~

"NO!" Abornazine yelled, his call filled with anguish. The fire hissed and crackled around him, beckoning him towards it. It licked at his paws, at the grass, and spread across the camp of his tribe.

But the fire was the least of his worries. There, on the ground, his father lay dead. Silent. Still. Murdered.

The humans had done it, set fire to his tribe. And by doing that, they had killed his father. Abor was paralyzed, grief and anger filling him. How could they have done this, on the day he got his feathers?!?

He howled, a long, sad sound. At the end of his mournful cry, he realized that the fire was beginning to die. Ashes fell from the sky like snowflakes in the winter. And yet, they were so much more sinister.

Abornazine's father died on the day he received his feathers. He was going to have gotten his paintings the same day, but the humans had set fire to their home. Abor's dad was not the only one lost from the fire, though; his whole family, all his friends, his whole tribe had been lost. All except for him. He was the only one left.
And so, after his home and his life had been burned down to nothing, Abornazine took the paint and painted the two things that had had the most meaning to his life. The things that he will never forget. The things that changed his life forever. He painted. . .

A flame, for the fire that burned him with it's sweltering heat;

and a handprint, for the humans that hurt him with their cold hearts.

~

Some Kia's say that the Native American word Abornazine, meaning keeper of the flame, came from this little one. They say that he 'keeps the flames' at bay from destroying the last piece of his tribe-- the piece inside him.

~

Even after what they had done to him, Abornazine knew that not all humans were bad. They could be kind and loving. He had been made wise by all his learning, and had known that people were good. Even now, when you look into Abornazine, Keeper of the Flame's eyes, they say the wisdom and forgiveness in them glows.

Name of Kia: Asgi (Her name means dream in Cherokee. Because she's my dream kia.)
Gender: Female
What symbol is painted on the other side? http://www.chickensmoothie.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=1761860
2 extras: My first extra is her story.

This can't be happening! It just can't! Asgi thought, a single tear tracing a silver path down her dirtied face as she gazed at the destruction from where she was huddled behind a large rock. They said that were going to help us. But instead they've done this.

~ Two days prior~

“Come on Kaya! Mum said that after we're done we can go swimming!” Asgi shouted excitedly to her older sister. “Asgi, you know that there's been a food shortage lately. It's not likely we'll find much.” Kaya sighed, “Sometimes you're just to positive ayasha.” She said, lifting the lid of the mostly empty basket on her back. Kaya sighed again, “I'll gather the berries, and you see if you can catch a few salmon. Alright?” “I'll try” Asgi asserted, making her way to the riverbank. As she glanced up from the water, a glimmering fish dangling in her jaws, Asgi caught sight of Nukpana, chief of the fox clan. “Greetings Nukpana!” Asgi said respectfully, despite the thoughts running through her head. Why is he here? The fox clan has never paid us any heed or respect. “I've come to speak with your father, the great Ahote, chief of the tribe of the Kiamaras.” Nukpana replied curtly, “Tell him at once that I've arrived and wish to council with him.” “As you wish maiara one.” Asgi spat, trying to hide the disgust in her voice, before scurrying back towards her village.

~1 hour later~

Asgi's father, Ahote, sat in the middle of a blue circle. The circle was drawn by Kaya as a tradition before any political meeting, the circle symbolized unity and the blue represented water. The unity in the hopes that the two groups would not fight and the water in the hope that peace and friendship would flow, much like the life sustaining river. Kaya sat on her father's left an Asgi to his right. “What business have you come to discuss?” Ahote's deep voice rang out. “We've come to disscuss helping with your shortage.” Nukpana hissed, pacing before the kias. After counseling with is two daughters and some of the elders, Ahote announced, “We will accept your offer of help. But when the time came, instead of bringing food, the fox chief brought an army.

~Present~

Asgi curled up, burying her nose in her tail as she tried to block the screams of pain that slashed the air like knives. Tears beginning to trickle down her face. She stayed like that for over an hour as the fighting ended and the foxes left. Asgi looked around, the sight breaking her heart. Bodies, her friends and relitives, caked in blood and dirt, littered the ground, like forgotten child's toys. Every way she turned, more destruction. How could they do this to us! She thought, furious, before a particular cry caught her ears. Asgi raced over, sitting beside her sister she nudged Kaya's head. The older kia's eyes snapped open, “Sist-” “There's no time. I will soon be leaving this world.” “But Kaya!” Kaya smiled gently at her sibling, “Lay down next to me.” She instructed. Asgi obeyed. "These are for you." Kaya said, untieing the beuatiful red, white, and black feathers from her tail, and securing them on Asgi's. "But-" Kaya shook her head, and placed her paw in the reddish clay that surrounded them and drew a symbol on Asgi's flank, “This is your symbol now, ayasha. We'll see each other again. Don't forget that.” Kaya said softly, laying her head back down she closed her eyes, then her breath, and her heart, stopped. “Kaya? Kaya!” Asgi shouted at the lifeless body beside her. Unable to hold them back any longer, hot tears began to run in torrents down her face. Asgi cried until she felt empty I have don't have any tears left. She looked again at Kaya, her sister's last words echoing through her mind We'll see each other again. Don't forget that. “I won't forget Kaya. I won't forget.”

~Translations~

Kaya – elder sister
Ayasha – little one
Nukpana - evil
Maiara - wise

---They call me Pumyra. That’s pronounced pu-m-ee-rah. Three syllables and three my consonants
name contains. As far as I know my name doesn’t mean anything in particular. That doesn’t matter
to me though. I like it. It’s unique and somehow fitting. Really people? That’s a stupid question.
Can’t you tell my gender from the way I talk, the way my pelt is groomed, and the way I’m responding
to your question that I’m a girl? Yes, I’m a female. Shocker.
Image

    Image
---I suppose you could say I’m a quirky Kia… In a lifetime you
will come across those who hate work. Hate it with a burning
passion. They are lazy, it’s horrible. Me? I love work. I’m not
the one to take handouts. In fact, I’ll probably turn just about
anything you offer down. Let me rephrase something, it’s not
that I love work, I love the feeling I get when I get something
I want after working long and hard for it. Like, walking across
the blistering desert for the last drop of water on earth.
---I’ve been a vegetarian since… well, since I could remember. In
my forest home I grown and tend to my own crops. Why: To
avoid harmful Genetically Modified Organisms that the grocery
stores sell you; nasty. My favorite food of all time would have to
-----------------------------------------------------be Spring Rolls, without any meat or meat products of course.
Honestly, I’m a lover not a fighter. I’ve never been able to hold a grudge against anybody for long anyway.
I don't have very many friends, but for that I have no one to blame except for myself. I live a solitary life
in the woods. I live up in a tree house, so I can wake right when the sun rises and listen to the singing of
the birds. I have a bit of an obsession with birds. Well, not really birds, their feathers more like. I have
this hobby of creating intricate headdresses out of the feathers and handcrafted, clay beads. I sell them
in craft fairs. That's pretty much the only time I go into town.
---Why do I choose to live a solitary life: because it makes me feel at one with nature. I guess you could
say I'm a bit of a tree hugger. See what I did there? Because I live in a tree? Never mind.
---On top of that I guess I have to admit there are some things that other Kias do that I just plain don't
like. For example: making sounds when they eat. I'm sorry, you're not supposed to sing when you eat.
You might choke. I really don't want to have to preform CPR on anybody any time soon. At least here
in the safety of the tree house I will never have to.
---There are others things, but I'd rather not talk about my personal pet peeves right this second.
If you haven't noticed, my sense of humor can be a bit bland... I don't like it very much. Another
reason I don't interact. If someone makes a joke, its gets really awkward because it will either
take me a very long time to actually get the punch line or I won't get it at all. At that point the
jokster would have to explain the joke to me and when that happens we all know that the joke is no
longer funny. I'm a joke ruiner, and I hate myself everyday for it.
---If there's anything I love to do other than make Native American headdresses, its dance. I dance the
          ancient dances of my ancestors. Our dances tell a story. They tells stories of love; stories of war;
stories of animals; stories of life. Just give me a beat and I'll dance you a story of how the wolves
chase the deer. Or of how the birds soar in the sky. Just give me a beat and I'll dance for you.

Image

---I honestly don't understand how a song that someone else wrote can describe
anyone's personality. To me it's just not possible. How can words that came from someone else's
mouth define who you are and who you are going to be? We write our own story. We define our
own fate, but if I had to choose one song I'd have to choose The Way I Am by Ingrid Michaelson.

Name Of Kia:
Pallaton;Pronounced Pal-uh-tone
This means warrior in Native American. I see him as a warrior by the way the paint is on his body. Showing that he may have fought in a battle and the war paint represents a true hearted warrior.

Gender:
Male, to me this Kia is masculine by the way his dark colors and war paint blend.

What Symbol Is Painted On The Other Side?
Image
This symbol's meaning may be confusing but once I explain you'll understand. The moon has a spiral within it, meaning 'eternal night'. The sun within the middle of the moon is smaller because 'night has taken over'. His tribe he comes from actually had a rival who worshipped the sun, as they worshipped the moon. Pallaton was actually the one who led the battle to defeat the ones who worshipped the sun. This is how he got the symbol showing that 'night had taken over' after the battle.

Name of Kia:
Honani [Ho-nah-nee]

Why I chose his name:

Honani is a Native American, specifically Hopi, name meaning 'Badger'. For starters, I quite liked the sound of the name when spoken, so this was why it made my short list, but the meaning also caught my eye. I've always had an interest in badgers, and actually have a family of the European species residing in my back garden. The behaviour of European badgers is similar to how I see this little guy's personality, so I believe it is quite fitting.
The badger as an animal also has a meaning to many Native Americans, and though I am certain there are slight variations in the beliefs, badgers are generally a good totem, or symbol of many admirable personality traits. The guidance in these areas offered by observing the animal also can make one feel in peace with themselves, as the small, quiet creatures offer a way of escaping the busy life and just relaxing. They are viewed as quite unique individual animals, but they obviously do not care about the opinions of others, encouraging others to choose their own path, and the pace at which they travel it.

Gender:
Male

What symbol is painted on the other side?:
Image

Honani actually has two symbols painted on his right side, though both are linked through their specific meaning, and only one is permanent like the ones on his left side. On his flank in the red paint of his other markings he has the paw print of a badger, his namesake and spirit animal. This symbol is not clear like the hand print on his left side however, and smears a little at the end as if it had been rushed.
The second is an even simpler mark, this time on his face. This symbol is not always found on him, and is therefore more as simple decoration than the others which have true meaning for him. This symbol, again in the red paint of the others, is a simple sweeping mark across the face, starting from the muzzle and ending at the top of his head like the black marking on the face of a European badger.

The meaning of these symbols:

The badger paw print symbolises his namesake and spirit animal, the badger. He connects with it on a spiritual level so it is very much a part of him on the inside, leading to him expressing it through the painted artwork on the exterior of his body to reveal this information to others who would understand. Working alongside the human hand print as an opposite, the paw print shows the balance between the two species in terms of importance in his life and his environment. However unlike the clear hand print, which could be interpreted as almost seeking perfection as it was carefully drawn with precision to create a clear print, the paw print is smudged at the bottom showing a much more carefree, simple way of life.
The second marking is also connected with the badger, as it is the face marking of the European badger. As a rather distinctive yet simple mark, it is only worn on special occasions when he feels that he needs to be brought closer to his spirit guide, or when he feels he has lost his way. Although it does also serve the purpose of making him appear more threatening if he had a need to try and ward off others. The main purpose for this mark is simply for show, as it does not have any specific meaning to him, and so could be interpreted in many different ways. The occasion to which he will wear it varies, though it is usually something that would require courage, so perhaps, deep down, it is his way of preparing himself for the future.

2 extras:
Bio;

Honani was not named straight after his birth as many are, instead his parents waited a few days to judge his character before truly deciding on what would identify him for the rest of his life. They did not believe in the idea that the perfect name will just come to mind at first glance, as there is no way of telling how their son would act. Looking back on their decision now, he couldn't have been happier with his parents' decision to wait. He does quite like his name. This is why he is named Honani, or 'badger', as the name actually means. His personality, even when very young, was similar to the European badger so his parents decided that this was going to be the name for him. He was very social with the other young Kia around him, often being playful and friendly where others were trying to work out their place among the other Kia cubs. Hierarchy starts young after all, but he allowed himself to be placed lower down. He took a very passive role, not wanting to fight over something so unimportant. He had never felt the need to prove himself to others, and so he didn't try to do so. Or at least not until he became a child. As he grew up, his image became more important to him, possibly due to the new feathers he had to show off. These were a gift from his father, his role model, and he very proudly wore them. His father was a very important aspect of his young life, as he would spend a lot of his time with his son, teaching him about the world, about the way they lived, and of course talking of the future, how Honani would learn about himself as he grew older. A lot of the life skills and knowledge he has had been passed down from his father, as he had wanted to give his son the best chance he could possibly have in the world. But at the same time, his father did not pressure him into doing anything he didn't want to do, especially not if it meant changing the way he was. After his second birthday, when he received his feathers, Honani became known amongst the other young Kiamara as quite the prankster, but he never meant any harm and would usually stop before he could take it too far and upset others. It's always in good humour on his end, but sometimes his judgement of how others would take it is a little off, which is when he gets into trouble. In these cases though, he does not argue with his punishment, he'll accept it, because he is well aware that it was his fault that they became upset. There is no use in denying it, or trying to pass the blame off on others. He does not wish to sink that low. With a more humorous view on life, as this joker, one would expect his focus to slip, but this is not the case. He is surprisingly focused when it comes to what he wants out of life. Sure, he may not have ambitions like other Kia children of becoming the leader of a pack, or becoming some great hero... Instead his determination stems in a completely different direction. He simply wishes to live as he chooses. This very achievable goal inspires him to keep going, and day by day he just continues as he is, openly happy with his life. May not be glamorous, but it doesn't need to be in order for him to be happy. Though he may prank others, he is quite a peaceful Kiamara. When he isn't with the other Kia children, he will be off on his own, just sitting quietly and letting the breeze blow through his fur, and the beauty of nature continue around him. This subdued young Kiamara isn't always so passive though. He can get quite vicious if the situation calls for it, as any cornered animal can be, but he is generally quite friendly, even among those he doesn't know. However just because he is friendly to strangers doesn't mean he isn't wary, as he will not trust them as he does his friends. Trust has to be earned, although unlike some, he doesn't deliberately make that hard. He has the capability of being stubborn, but sees no point in it. After all, making friends is a fun activity and having good friends can lead to so many good memories. In addition, he believes in second chances. However if you press your luck after that, you're done. He is a good, fun loving guy, but he doesn't like to be used. There is only so much that can be forgiven.

I will be here
when you think you’re all alone
Seeping through the cracks
I’m the poison in your bones
My love is your disease
I won't let it set you free
Til I break you

You’ll never know what hit you
Won’t see me closing in
I’m gonna make you suffer
This hell you put me in
I’m underneath your skin
The devil within
You’ll never know what hit you

I tried to be the lover to your nightmare
Look what you made of me
Now I’m a heavy burden that you can’t bear
Look what you made of me
Look what you made of me
I’ll make you see

Koda

Male

What symbol is painted on the other side?

This symbol has a lost meaning. It was passed down from his great-grandfather, to his grandfather, to his father, and then to Koda. Over those many years it had lost it's true meaning, Koda's family just used it as a symbol that represented them, and their great ancestors. Though the meaning is vague it still holds a key to Koda's past. He's always trying to figure out what it means.

Extra #2:

Koda's Past:

Koda is a strong, independent young gentlemen. He grew up living a hard life. Soon after he was able to eat on his own, his mother was taken from him. Koda was to become a leader, and back then his tribe believed that a mother would only hold back any true potential from this young leader.
When Koda was old enough to hunt for himself, his father brought him out on a hunting trip one night. Food was scarce, so they split up into pairs. Koda went with his father. Koda, now having his heart hardening felt a nagging anger deep down inside him. He wanted his mother back, but her life was meaningless to the pack. So it was taken away. Koda grew restless, hearing his father's footsteps, and not the light patter of his mothers. He lashed out at his father. Struggling and scared, Koda's father tried to snatch Koda by the neck. It was too late, Koda had struck first, and within a few moments, Koda's father lay dead on the forest floor.
When returning to the pack, that following night. Koda reported the leader dead, "killed in action" where his choice of words. The pack mourned for days. Koda was to be the new leader now, but that wasn't what he wanted. He just wanted revenge for his mother. Yet the pack wouldn't leave him alone, they treated him with so much respect. It actually made Koda feel guilty about his dirty deed. So guilty, that he found his father's body and brought it back to the pack.
Tossing it on the ground, Koda admitted what he did. In a split second, the pack now shunned Koda from their lives. They hated him, wanted to kill him. But being the kind Kaimara's they were, they just banished him. And if Koda was to ever be found on their territory, death would come to him.
Koda now roamed alone, independent, as his father always wished he'd be. He had to be strong, and move on. If this was how his life was meant to turn out, then so be it. Today he still roams the wilderness, alone, but never scared. He's independent, but he longs for a family. Someone to protect, someone to live for. Those are his new wishes. He keeps his feathers giving to him by his father close to him. Never out of his sight. Though he never liked his father, though all the kind things he did, those feathers meant more to him than anything. Also his tribe symbols. He wear's them with pride. Perhaps one day, maybe he'll be able to join his pack again.
