Backstory-
Jo, come and watch the amazing acrobatic dragon do her tricks at tonight's show at 8:00 sharp, see you there! Yep, she was at a circus. And it wasn't really all that bad. She got food to eat, and a warm bed to sleep in every night. Though there must have been something else to happen in her life, something big.
That night, at eight, she was on the 9:00 act, alone. She had done this many times before, there was nothing to be stressed out about. When time came, they rolled the trampoline out for her, and she bounced and bounced, sometimes high, sometimes low. Just as a warm-up, she bounced really high to do four flips before she landed back on her feet and bounced twice to regain to senses. Again and again, she did the tricks she had learned ever since she'd been able to talk. As a grand finale, she pounced as high as she could, brushing her nose against the top of the tent ceiling, and made a head-first dive for the floor. She flipped at the last second, neatly landing onto the trampoline and gracefully popping off. Jo did her bows, and she stood there until the last customer left, as she was taught. Finally, she slipped out of the tent and hopped into her very own trailer to snooze off.
Jo woke up to hear a rhythmic scratching upon her trailer door, and by peering through her dusty window, she could see that it was still late at night. She cautiously felt her way around in the dark, before finally grasping ahold of her door. As she opened it, a loud squeak groaned at it's hinges, the moon had brightly alluminated the space in front of her trailer, aling with the dim yellow street light. "Anyone out there?" She called, then there was a rustling at the bushes, and a dark figure was slyly moving through the trees, watching her.
Jo stood there for a good while, staring deep into the forest, freezing at the tiniest movement. She was scared. What was this, thing. Out in the bushes. Finally, the figure stalked closer to her, paralyzed by fear, all Jo could do was close her eyes. She heard the light patter of the creature, now only a foot from her. Finally, she opened her eyes to she a creature, looking just like her.
Not exactly like her, but same in looks, the nose, snout, paws, size, ears. Just, similar like that. She was a light tan, swirls circling her body, but she also had that smug, half smile, hanging loosely and comfortably on her face. Jo was utterly flabbergasted. She had never seen some creature as remotely similar to her, let alone be breathing the same air. Everything felt so unreal, so.. dream-like. None of this could be happening. Until the creature spoke.
"You alright there?" The dragon spoke, "Looking a little nervous there."
Jo just stared, she could comprehend this, she wasn't the only one anymore. She wasn't so alone.
"Yes, I'm alright," Jo wheezed out, then added, "I think."
"Great," The dragon replied. "Let's get going then."
"Going?" Jo asked, "You mean we're leaving here? Forever?"
The dragon cocked her head to one side and smiled. "Yeah, I mean, we may bump into these guys again, but I doubt it."
"But-" Jo regained her thoughts and started again. "But, I live here, I can't leave, really. I still have performances to do, and training, and-"
"You like it?"
"Well, not really, sometimes it hurts."
"Then get what you need, and let's leave." The tan dragon smiled. "Don't worry. You'll be fine."
Jo was surprised she managed to get what she needed and left with this foreign dragon, all in less than a minute. She never realized how much she hated what she was doing, and how much she real disliked the circus until she was, well, leaving. Now, in the hands of a complete stranger, venturing into unknown lands, and encountering who knows what, Jo felt the happiest she had ever been.
"What were you doing here?" Jo asked. She was curious on this stranger's background now that she was warming up to her.
"Oh me?" The dragon chuckled, "I was just passing by, then I saw you. Thought you'd might want to try something new, so, here we are."
"Oh, cool." Jo replied. "How'd you know that I wanted to leave?"
"Your face." She replied coolly. "You never really looked happy during your training. There was always a frown on your face."
Jo thought about that for a second. "How long did you stay?"
"About two or so moons." The dragon replied.
"Oh!" Jo grinned and turned to the dragon, "So what's your name?"
"The name's ButterBread," She winked. "But you can call me Butters."
The two dragons trudged on, sharing experiences, thoughts, feelings, names, and when the morning sun finally came rising up to illuminate the sky a bright blue, they felt like sisters, like they had known each other for years. Together they would travel through adventures, trudge through landscapes, and waltz through memories. All have which would act like glue, bonding them, friends forever and always.
Personality-
Bottled, from her rough and lonesome experience at her time from the circus, Jo never really was permitted to share her feelings, no one really cared, and it all didn't really seem to matter. Even after meeting ButterBread, Jo had a hard time speaking about what she felt.
Observant, she kept quiet, and watched others, she saw their strengths, weaknesses, personality. It just kind of came as a second nature, she could read their faces like reading a book.
Calm, not too much hippy, but kind of close. Jo could really keep cool and collected in a heated up problem. Her eagerness to keep peace really has effected herself and others.
