Name:Her name is Caribou, which actually is an
arctic deer. Her parents choose the name because they came to think of a deer when they first saw their daughter. Caribou often goes by her name, but most of her friends call her by her nickname, Bambi.
Story about how she collected all of her string:~Feathers and Beads~ Caribou was super excited. It was her fifth birthday, and now she finally would get her feathers. Her mother and father had saved for this in a long time, because their family was rather poor. Her parents even sacrificed their own feathers before she got born, just to have money for the little tree they lived in. Which means Caribou never had seen string, or the feathers, before this day.
They walked to the festival, named "Feathers and Beads", it was a huge festival in the forest were Kiamaras from all over the world met to trade and buy new feathers and beads.
Of course it wasn't just feathers and beads they were selling. It was a huge collection of different accessories and items, but also food and other important stuffs a Kiamara needed.
"Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Huh? How is it like? Is it fun?" The brown little kiamara chatted, she was curious about the festival. This was her first time leaving her family's territory, so I think you can imagine how excited she was.
And then, finally they were there, and the sight was amazing.
It was pretty dark outside, and all the trees leaves were in different hues of red, yellow, orange and brown. The fireflies were dancing around in the sky, which made everything almost glow.
"Okay honey-bun, come back here when the parade begins, okay?" Her mother said and Caribou nodded with a smile on her face before she walked into the festival.
The festival was huge and simply amazing. She looked like a child on Christmas eve.
Happily, she bounced around through the different market stalls and looked curiously at everything.
she had her money pouch around her neck, it wasn't that much in it, and she couldn't afford the feathers the rich Kiamaras were selling.
Soon enough, she began to understand that she couldn't afford to buy one single feather for the copper coins she had.
Sadly, she walked to the end corner of the festival, and you could see by only look at her how sad and disappointed she was.
Tears started slightly to fall down her cheeks, and suddenly she felt a paw on her shoulder.
"Oh, little child. Why are you so down and sad?" A trembling voice said.
"Because.. Because the feathers are too expensive... I can't afford to buy just a single one" She said and sobbed.
"Well, I think I have some feathers you could buy for a cheap price" The mysterious voice continued.
"Do you really mean that?!" She said and turned around to see who this kind creature was.
It was an old Kiamara with silver mane and a purple-coloured fur with darker hues of purple on her markings.
"Yes, sweetie. Follow me" She said with a smile and they walked to a market stall near a willow tree.
The old Kiamara had beautiful feathers in all sort of colours. The string were probably made of leather that was in both black, grey and brownish colours. And there, on the desk, it was a little bowl full with beads. The lady picked up a pair of feathers and some beads with the black leather string.
"Do you like it?" The lady said and smiled
"Those reminds me of autumn and amber... I really love them" Caribou said and her eyes glimmered of happiness and joy.
"How much is it?" She continued and took her money pouch.
"Ten copper coins" The old lady said, still with a soft smile on her face.
"... Oh. I only have five copper coins..." Caribou whispered. The old lady looked at her for a few minutes, before she started to smile.
"Oh, did I say ten? I meant five, honey. So sorry for the mistake" The lady said and chuckled.
"My memory isn't what it once was... Do you want me to help you put it on, or do you want it wrapped?" The lady continued, still with a smile on her face.
"You can help me put it on... If it's not too much trouble" Caribou said, still with a low voice. The lady walked towards her and started to wire one of the strings with one feather on the end around Caribous tail, and took a new piece of string with two beads on the ends and wired it there too. She also wired some string with beads on Caribous paw that was connected to her left hind leg, one on her right front paw and gave her two pair of earrings and a necklace.
"This doesn't look like it cost five copper coins..." Caribou said when the lady was done.
"It's because it cost more than that, sweetie" The lady said, still smiling.
"So, why did you...?"
"Because you seems to be so sweet and kind, and you deserve this. And your lack of money can't stop it now"
"Thank you so much" Caribou said and hugged her.
Later on, there were some bullies destroyed the necklace and one of the bracelets. But Caribou still kept it, and wired some of the leather string around her horns. She didn't care if it just was some string now, because it was still a gift. And that gift meant alot to her, even know, fourteen years after she went to the festival for the first time of her life.Art:wip~
