There was once a time when snakes and the Indians lived together in complete harmony, even to the point that they shared a common language. A human dying from a snake bite was unheard of, and neither creature felt fear of each other. During the Summer, the sighting of the rattlesnakes were even a time for celebration, as their appearance was what heralded the coming of a summer rain storm. Every night during the rattlesnake's week-long appearance, huge fires and dances were held in their honor. And every night, in the distance, there was always one spectator who never joined in the celebrations. A beautiful, pure white Desert Appaloosa mustang would watch, her blue eyes narrowed vengefully. She was the most beautiful creature to walk the land, and she took second place to serpents. Finally she grew tired of the partying and happiness, and decided that she would take her rightful place as the most revered creature in the desert.

Approaching the rattlesnake patriarch one night, the mare woke him gently. "Askook," she whispered. "I bring grave news. The chief is planning to betray you at tomorrow's ceremony. He has heard rumor that you were planning to overthrow him, and has been sharpening his deerhorn dagger." Askook, still half asleep, took her words for truth. He is, is he? The massive rattlesnake hissed. Thank you for informing me. With that, Askook settled back to sleep and the white mare left, a satisfied smirk as she set off to her next destination. After some travelling, she came up the Chief's teepee. Wedging her nose into the opening, she found him sitting awake and meditating with the Great Spirit. "Chief?" She said gingerly, smiling softly as his young eyes opened to look at her. "Ah, come my dear. What can I do for you?" He asked. "I bring grave news. Askook, the Patriarch Rattler, was speaking of overrunning the village. I came to warn you that he may try to take your life at the ceremony tomorrow night." Though the chief was suspicious at first, he saw only truth in her eyes. "Thank you for the warning, my dear," he said, turning back to his meditation. Proud of her work, she returned home and slept fittingly until the moon set to its own slumber.

The next evening, the the air inside the village was tense. As the Village Chief and Rattlesnake Patriarch met as normal, the two suddenly attacked one another. The Chief received a deep, venom-laden bite to the wrist as his dagger tore into the Rattler's beautiful scaled skin. They died within minutes. Members of both faction stood in such shock that war never truly broke out, but after many sunrises of sadness and grief the truth came to be known. Both the rattlesnakes and the villagers turned on her, and sought revenge for her evil deeds. From the rattlesnakes she received a bite, and in reaction to the venom she lost her ability to vocalize in any way. From the Indians, they captured her and stained her coat in red and black, with only small portions left white. The red was to signify the blood of the two leaders that had been unnecessarily shed, and the black was the evilness that plagued her heart. Finally, the white signified her chance at redemption, though the scars of her deeds would always scar her body and her soul. After her punishment was administered she escaped back into the desert, her heart filled with shame and sorrow not only for herself but also for the lives she had ruined in her selfish endeavors. After that day she was forever known as "Chumana", the Snake Maiden that was known for tricking people into believing what she wanted them to. And even though war never plagued the rattlesnakes and humans, the trust between the two was forever shattered, and they ceased to share anything except an environment.

Horse's Name:
Chaos
Named after the Greek deity Chaos, also known as "The Void" who was the original Greek god/goddess.

Height:
16.7 hh

Gender:
Mare (Female)

Story/Legend/Myth:

Crazed Song Of Beautiful Titan

There is a rumor that Chaos took the form of a young mare one fateful eve, and brought pain and destruction to all near the beautiful mare. This mare had a... strange coat. A rumor spread through the various herd saying that a mare was born with a demonic coat, blackened from battle and stained red from the blood of the fallen, but she still had the heart of an angel who was trying to reach through the tainted coat, that is the reason she has the white blanket, well... that is what the herds believed. As this mare grew, her parents became distant from her and the herd, they soon had gone insane and killed each other. Their daughter, the red and black mare, who had been given no name, was deemed "Chaos" for the herd believed that she caused her parents to go crazy. Some believed that one day this mare would go insane like her parents.

A great deal of time later, Chaos was a beautiful, full grown mare. The herd, even though they held little trust in her, treasured her for her unique appearance that was so alluring to the other herds. Her blue eyes stood out against her red and black face, and rumors said that she could steal your soul if you looked into her eyes. The red on her coat grew more vibrant as she aged, so she was still quite the oddity to the herd as a full grown mare. Her red mane and tail were once pure white, but it seemed that whenever a horse in the herd, no matter what the cause of death was, her main and tail became more red. One day, a foal was chasing a bug and had gone over to the edge of the herd's territory and was killed by a cougar, that day part of Chaos's mane and tail turned black.

She was threatened by the leader of the herd that if she did not stop killing off other horses she would be killed instead. She had two choices: leave the herd and be a outcast for the rest of her life, or stand up and fight. She, being the brave mare she was, would not back down, not after all that she has suffered. She faced the stallion, and with her strong and elegant voice said "I am not afraid." and thus they fought. After a few strong blows from the stallion, she was tossed to the ground. Her body was weak and fragile, but her mind and heart were strong. She struggled to her feet and charged the stallion with all her strength. Her beautiful blue eyes appeared blood red from her rage, her mind had been absorbed by her fury and lost control of her own body, anger had taken complete control of her. When she regained control, she saw the stallion laying on the ground, dead. She looked at the expressions of horror and fear upon the faces of the other horses, she started to laugh maniacally. Most of her mane and tail became a deep, blood stained shade of red to match with her coat.

Do you believe the story of this crazed beauty?

I made art of her^^

Azrael

Gender:

Story/Legend/Myth:

A child with no sight, and no way to know his hidden skill, fell upon a river bed laden with clay. For as long as he sat, there came no rescue, no voice of any type to comfort him. Panic hammered at his chest, begging to be let out - to make him lose his logic, but he kept it tightly reigned, refusing to let it overwhelm him. This child knew that help would come, he need only to wait. With that thought in mind, he dug his fingers into the soft clay beneath his knees and scooped a ball of the substance into his hands.

With no clue as to what he would create, only an inkling of how to bend and twist the soft clay's shape, he began to mold the ball into a new form all its own. He may have spent hours, perhaps merely minutes, working on the ball, it was impossible to tell. It kept his fear at bay, though, it gave his mind a way to escape the looming forest around him until at last his rescue arrived. Not thinking of the shape his hands created, he returned the clay to the river bed and went home.

That night, under the light of a billion stars and the moon alike, the shape began to grow. From the size of a small child's toy, it grew to the size of a horse that would loom over even the tallest of men. Its coat was twisted and spotted with the different colors of the clay used to form his body, his heart bold and fearless like his creator's. This horse, magical in creation though he may be, also had a flaw. He was blind as a man cast into the darkest of caves with no light. Perhaps that is why he only guides lost children home in the night.

Your Name: Queen Chrysalis

Horse's Name: Harlequin Nicknamed Harley

Height: 16HH

Gender: Female

Story/Legend/Myth:
There are legends from long ago that speak of a mare with a coat of red, white and black. Some say she was an evil omen while others say she was merely an unusual horse. This is one of the many legends.
The night was dark. All was still and quiet as the grave. Behind a sand dune something moved into the shadows a flash of white not helping to reveal what it was. A strange equine landed on top of the dune the large feathered wings folding against its side as the eyes flashed ice blue for a mere moment. Twisted horns curled up from between the lilac furred ears and a cruel expression sundered the beautiful face.

There was a whinny of delight as another equine cantered up the side of the dune and enthusiastically went about greeting the winged equine. "Yes, yes Harlequin I know your happy to see me, now get off" the twisted equine spoke her voice radiating with power as she gave the other mare a shove. Harlequin seemed not to care and danced around the other mare, her long mane and tail flowing like banners as she pranced. A snake interrupted her dance and the chimera mare quickly stomped a hoof on it's head with a nicker of amusement. She was cruel and Avinia swore that Harley had a pinch of multiple personality disorder, not that she really care of course because why should a being of pure evil care?

With an unspoken signal merely seconds after Avinia had started walking, Harlequin was happily trotting after the mare she adored. "Now Harley I have important things to do tonight and I'm going to need your help to get them done" she told the Mustang who bounced slightly on the spot with joy

WIP I will finish this story I swear it!

Your Name: The Royal Mirage
Horse's Name: Gemini
Height: 16.2hh
Gender: Mare
Story/Legend/Myth:
There once was a lone, deep bay mare who galloped through the desert. She was wild and free as the wind, none could touch her. At least, none until the great Black, a stallion of fire and cunning. Black had his eye on the wild mare, he'd watched and courted her to no avail, and he intended to have her. Luring her in with the scent of water that trickled beneath the sand and rock, Black hid himself in a shady cave and pawed the ground until he hit a small spring. The freshwater in the dry heat was attractive to the mare, as well as the shade of the cave. Following the sound and scent, the wild bay was overtaken by the stallion. Even though she would soon bear his foal, she would not stay with him, and was ferocious in ending his life. The dark stallion's breath was ragged, blood staining the golden sand beneath his limp body, as he glared up at the mare who had always defied him. With the last of his strength he uttered a curse unto the wild bay, that her foal would be born as vicious as herself with his own hatred, and would be the death of the mare.

After this, he passed, and the wild bay left the cave. As she matured further into her pregnancy, strange things began to occur. Sometimes she would see a pair of vultures flying overhead, only to trick her eyes into seeing just one. At others, she would imagine two foals running by her side, before turning on her and disappearing in a shaft of light. These visions frightened her, made her nip at her growing belly anxiously. It was times like these that she would feel a pinch back, as if she were being bitten from the inside, and could feel the foal growing ferocious within her.

It was a windy day, the day that she came. The moonlight played along the flying sands, creating a herd of silvery horses that galloped along the vast expanse of the dry sea. The wild mare longed to run with the wind, but was hindered by the foal inside of her that was ready to drop. As she birthed, the mare felt an unbelievable pain, and was buried in the flying sands as soon as her filly had emerged. The stallion had gotten his revenge at last, in the form of the shivering orphaned filly whose chimeric coat was stained with bloody sand.

Your Name: NightGaze
Horse's Name:
Pandora
Height:
16.2hh
Gender:
Mare
Story/Legend/Myth:
The stars twinkled brightly as the most beautiful mare in the desert gave birth to twins. The colt was even more beautiful then his dam, and was strong and honest. For this they named him Demigod. The filly, was full of hate and had an ugly black and white coat, which her mother hated. She wanted a daughter as beautiful as her. For this they named her Pandora, meaning cursed one in their language. Pandora was once good hearted like her brother, but the rejection from her dam was what hardened her heart.
Her sire, Aries was evil on the inside, and when alone on the outside. His daughter was his favorite, and hated
his son's honesty. He was afraid when he fell, his son would take over. One day, he came to his daughter's favorite place to be and asked her if she wanted to have more respect from her mother. "I guess" Pandora said glumly. "Go attack your brother! Do it now!" Aries sputtered. "What!" Pandora shrieked. "He always took attention away from you. He blinded your mother with his goodness, and kept the stronger of the sides from winning. You were always my favorite, and if you do it, you will be forever beautiful" Aries whispered to his young filly. She stood up, the hardness of her heart sent her to her brother. Silently she had crept up, while he drank from an oasis. When he finally turned around, she had slashed the side of his head with sharp hooves, as he stumbled over, she slit his throat. His blood had stained her red, and it was like that forever. She was beautiful, but everyone chased her into exile after finding out she had killed him. She was forever beautiful, as her father had promised. She has been seen at many villages
and the story continues from here, past from elder to child.

If you catch a glimps of 'Red Moon' (which is what humans call her) it is said someone you love will die. To prevent this, on a full moon, slash your temple with a silver knife, (as tribute to her brother's death) and let 3 drops spill on the highest sand dune. Call out the chant "Red Moon, Red Moon, hear my plea!" She will come and make you pay one more tribute. A lock of hair from you and the loved one's you wish to protect. If no one does this in at a village, two children and two elders will die, but Red Moon is always there to help them out of the world. The red mare takes pity on those who she takes, and returns them to the heavens, instead of being darned.
