xxxxxxxxHis world is his boat. It was something that was connected to him since the beginning of time, or that is what he likes to think. It's name is Ambition which is as cliché as it gets. Bartholomew was raised mainly by his father, Arthur, as his other father worked day and night as a whale hunter. Which left whales being a fond obsession for the young kalon. After the sudden loss of his sailor father, him and Arthur had left without a thought. Bartholomew would've never imagined spending the rest of his life on the sea.
xxxxxxxxThe trip had a range of difficulties. After traveling for 2 months they hit a storm; gorgeous and almost silent. As the last lightning strike hit, the two blacked out. They woke up and the boat they stood on was still in one piece holding all their belongings. Confused, but slightly relieved, they got back to their regular routines. Suddenly, a soft song began to float in the air that Bartholomew couldn't hear. Bartholomew's father started to weep, walked to the edge of the boat, and dived off in a flash. He did not dare turn to look at his son, but Bartholomew likes to imagine he did. The kalon imagined that something strange had took his father, maybe even his other as well, but brushed it off. He believed if he wished to continue his journey then he would not believe in any folktales.
xxxxxxxxThe now captain of Ambition had to spend his years without much of company. Along those years he gazed into the water, and thought, or even talked to himself. And not only a couple days after his father's disappearance he saw something in the water. Seaweed. Which was quite a strange circumstance, he was indeed in the middle of the ocean. Why would seaweed be popping out of the cold, salty sea? Then he started to notice that it was moving with him and had a strange shadow that followed it. Bartholomew, of course, new exactly what that shadow was; a whale! And his wondrous gasp must of made that whale think it was an invitation for him to say hello, because that sea creature started to swim upwards until he was clear to see against the waves. The whale was orange and unlike anything the kalon had heard of. It had kelp hanging from it's fins and from both sides of his tail. Bartholomew went through a sudden realization; he was definitely not going home anytime soon.

quirks and facts! ~

• nicknames; Bear and Captain/Cap'
• Bartholomew doesn't know that the storm was created by sirens, who he doesn't even know exists. They have been transported to a new world where the ocean overpowers land greatly. It is in fact rare to find any type of land.
• Both of his fathers were taken by sirens. Sirens sing haunting songs (about something you want strongly) to lure you into the deep. Bear can't be persuaded due to him yearning for nothing, even his fathers because he believes they rest peacefully.
• The ocean generates the more he travels, which is another thing Bartholomew doesn't know about this new world. The more he travels the more wacky creatures will be generated, he will meet many good and bad things.
• Bear has encountered land once. He had met a rooster, who he had later named Cub, and keeps him on his boat. They are extremely good buddies :) He visits the island from time to time.
• He keeps journals of his findings and collects knickknacks along the way.
• Some sea creature facts ~ King Midas stingers are based on the famous, well, King Midas. Everything they touch will turn gold, which also includes living creatures. Arthur's Whale is one of Bear's favorites (even though it is very hard for him to choose). They are very peaceful and love to ride along Ambition. Leviathyns are the most dangerous creature Bear has encountered. They cause illusions with their black and purple ink. The last creature to talk about are the sawdust crabs. They are harmless and can change colors in a dusty pattern. They dance and collect colorful shells for mates. Bartholomew has studied them at his island.
• His diet consists of seaweed, fish, and various seafood. He has some land food at the island (which he eats from time to time) but prefers seafood greatly.

Ahhh total work in progress, I love this baby. Current plan is for this kalon to - as far as he knows - be the only kalon living on the planet. No idea how he got there, just that this place is super wacky and dangerous. Lots of weird weather patterns that are dangerous.
