Fae - 'Fairy'
Name Story:
The tiny kit stumbled to her paws, her legs shaking
as she took her first step, followed by her first tumble. Her eyes still closed,
she sniffed the air as if in a field of flowers. As she stumbled away from her
mother, her father caught sight of her. The moonlight bathed her in light, giving
her spots an almost glowing look. "A fae child?" murmured her father, transfixed
as his sleepy eyes made him see non-exsistent glowing trails as his first daughter
strolled along. With a distressed cry, the little ball of fur navigated her way back to her
mother's milk. Her mother curled her tail around her child, pulling her close. "Oh, my
dear little Fae," gasped her mother as she licked the shivering kiamara roughly. It was
the first of many adventures this little Kia would have, though if you saw the little
kit's eyes close as soon as it hit the feathered lining of her nest and the slow, calm
rising and falling of her little chest, you would never believe it.

Interview:
An interview between a park ranger and a member of the
police, concerning Fae.
Amoral-Cheeky-Bold-Sly
Police: I need a word with you about a certain
vagrant, Ranger.
Ranger: I know, I know. The silly little feral child whose
terrorizing the forest. But what can I do?
Police: She's doing more than just terrorizing the forest.
She's been caught stealing!
Ranger: Doesn't surprise me, I must say.
Police: But don't you see? She's breaking the law - who
knows what else she might do?
Ranger: I know perfectly well what she's capable of.
Ranger pulls up sleeves to show three deep scratch marks.
Ranger: I cornered her once after she stole from my bins.
She left this.
Police: Exactly! She must be captured, before she does that
to others!
Ranger: Don't you think I've tried? She's a cheeky little blighter,
far too bold for her own good. She darted out right in front of
us, would you believe it?
Police: getting excited When was this? Can you give us the
location?
Ranger: Don't even bother. She's working with someone else,
I heard her talk to them. They're going to move to another
part of the forest.
Police: Well, just keep a look out for her, okay.
Ranger: sarcastically Well we do have a Sherlock here.
I was going to just turn a blind eye to her after all that's
happened!
Police storms off
Tree above rustles
Fae: Oh you do flatter me, Ranger!
Ranger: ...RARGHHH
tape crackles and ends as screams of anger are heard from
the Ranger as Fae uses the distraction to slyly
sneak away once again
History:
Fae was always considered a shy, quiet child by her
doting parents. They didn't recognise her signs of boredom
and displeasure. So when she disappeared one night,
they were sure she'd been led astray by some dark
stranger. Some may say they weren't all too wrong.
But the butterfly she followed was not dark, and
certainly not a stranger. Fae had been watching
the butterfly

Fae was always considered a shy, quiet child by her
doting parents. They didn't recognise her signs of boredom
and displeasure. So when she disappeared one night,
they were sure she'd been led astray by some dark
stranger. Some may say they weren't all too wrong.
But the butterfly she followed was not dark, and
certainly not a stranger. Fae had been watching
the butterfly

for weeks, as it grew from a caterpillar to butterfly.
So when it grew up, she felt it was only right for
her to look after it as it fluttered it's wings and took off.
Fae led a wild life, tearing through the forests with her stubby
paws. She befriended some animals, who were amused by her
childish clumsyness, and angered others. But, for once, Fae
wasn't doing this to make trouble. She wanted to find a friend.
After many months of searching, Fae had nearly given up.
She went to shelter for the night in a cave. She fell asleep
to the rhythmic sound of a nearby watefall. She woke up
to the less pleasant sound of a young kia screaming. Fae
stood up hurriedly, rubbing the dust from her eyes. She
couldn't believe he was real, and not just a dream! She
opened her mouth to introduce herself, barely recognising
the kia's distress. When the kia shoved her towards the
mouth of the cave, however, she realised that she was
unwanted. With a happy heart, she skipped out the cave.
She had found other kiamaras! After searching a whole
forest for them, befriending them should be a breeze.
Or so she thought.
It was six weeks before the kia
would speak to her. He told her his name was Kai, and
that Fae really shouldn't be there, and that his mother
would kill him. He sounded worried. From what I could glean,
his mother was a fierce kia who was very protective of her son.
"Why don't you come wild with me?" she asked him boldly.
"I could never do that!" replied Kai, shocked.
But Fae wasn't so sure...
Over many months, the friendship between the two
kias blossomed. Kai showed Fae the best places to
hide nearby, whilst Fae showed him all she had learnt
from the forest. But Fae grew restless after staying
in one place for so long. So again she asked,
"Why don't you come to the wild with me?"
And without hesitation, he replied, "I'm ready when
you're ready!"
For a while, the two kias have roamed the forests,
carefree - well, ignoring a few incidents with messing
up Kai's pencils 'by accident'! But Kai could not enjoy this life.
He didn't feel free, he tried to explain, with the trees closing
in on them. So he departed, and once again Fae was alone.
But she was no longer sad - being with Kai had shown
her much more than how to find a place to rest.
So, so much more.
