extra story/writing:
news spread through the small village like wildfire, for a prophecy had been revealed, and the beginning days of it's fullfilment were occurring- for a child was born, one with eyes like fire, ones of the sun, with striking red eyes and markings that could only display the child of the sun.

the prophecy had went:

"run, run, hide, hide
for the child of the sun will get into your mind.
with the mask of a moon,
the eyes will tell,
that an innocent child will soon fall to hell.
burn, burn, run, run
for the child of the sun will soon come"

the moment the child had been born, the parents hid the young one away- however, the society was not pleased with this, and,
in sudden inspection of the home, the parents had been executed for both bearing and hiding the child.

the child was taken, and was planned to be executed.

however, one royal member had cried, "the child can change! i can tell it!"
and a new plan came to light- for the fault of the child was her eyes.
"take the eyes! burn them! let them fall to the ground, for they should go to hell!"

with a strike to the eye, and another, and another, the child's eyes didn't seem to fall.

a sudden gasp ran through the crowd, as a squeal shot through through.

"i am no devil! i am no angel! i am one of neutrality- please, do not take my eyes, do not take my life! i'll live and strive, for all i want is a simple life!"

the crowd became aggressive, but soon was hushed by a kingly figure, who grasped the child and ran- ran, ran, and ran.

the bold kalon left her to a humble home, that didn't seem to hold any other kalons. with his eyes shut, he ran away, knowing that the child would live for many days.

extra story/writing:

It was the eyes that drew them in.

Perfect little silver mirrors, reflecting the light of the moon they so resembled. They’d travelled these ancient paths hundreds, thousands of times, and yes, they’d always appreciated any easy meat that came their way. But this… this was a strange creature indeed. It was small and pale and furless- it seemed to be wearing some sort of pelt to make up for this. It made no noise, it moved no muscles, and the only indication that it was even alive was the faint spark in its hypnotizing eyes.

They’d been standing there far too long; they were meant to get back by the night-bird’s first song, and the birds had long since stopped singing. And all they’d done was stare, unable to break the hold the creature’s moon-eyes had on them.

When even the night-bugs had stopped calling, they knew. They knew what they had to do.

The wolves fastened their jaws onto the blankets and carried the baby home.

---

It was the brightness that attracted him. The brightness of those shiny, shiny eyes.

He’d been watching it for a while, moving around in the bushes underneath his home-tree. It was clumsy, for a pup. It didn’t even look like a pup- its gait was awkward, and its fur seemed to be falling off. He only knew it was a pup because he’d seen it get separated from the pack as they’d come out on their daily patrol. He’d also seen the pack return to their home-caves already.

But it was not for him to interfere with nature.

The pup seemed to have finally given up and stopped moving. But it didn’t sit down. Instead, it moved its soft-looking paws to reveal a beakful of bush berries.

And it looked straight up at him.

The food was a temptation, but it was those eyes that finally did him in.

The raven swooped down and led the young girl, who wore a deer pelt like a cape and walked on all fours, back to her family of wolves.

---

It was the soul that locked her in place. She could see it in the creature’s silver eyes. It was innocent, and honest, and somehow, it calmed her down.

The creature tentatively took a few steps forward. It was a wolf. It was supposed to be a wolf; she knew that, she’d heard of the adopted pup. Yet, it walked on two legs, and its white fur only grew from its head. It was a young one, yes; three, four, five winters old. A small one, too. Maybe that was why it was acting so peculiar.

The up-wolf had come much closer. She herself was still frozen, amazed by the clarity of its eyes and the purity of its soul.

She felt one leathery paw placed gently on her flanks. Their eyes held for one moment longer, before the up-wolf suddenly sprinted away. And she, for some strange reason, followed.

The deer ran with the child, who’d taught herself to walk with the rocky cave walls, and they showed the forest what speed truly was.

---

The water had her eyes.

They stared back up at her, bright and soulful and silver. She understood, that day, why the wolves called her moon-eyes. She cocked her head as she examined her reflection. Sure, her eyes were pretty, but they didn’t have strength like her wolves, or hold intelligence like the raven’s, or give warmth like the deer’s.

She shook her head. She didn’t have time for this. Not now that she was on her own.

They’d all taught her so much. It was thanks to the raven that she knew which fruit to eat and where to find it. The deer had taught her how navigate the forest, how to run swiftly and silently. And the wolves were her family. They’d given her everything.

But there was a time in all creatures’ lives when they had to go alone. It was the way of the forest. It was how nature decided their destiny. For everyone had one- she just had to find hers.

She moved away from the riverbank and back into the forest. She’d left her wolf pack a few moons ago, and she’d survived so far on the skills the animals had taught her. Yet she hadn’t found what she was looking for. The wolves, and the deer, and even the raven had all told her that there was something out there; no matter how funny she looked, she had a purpose. She was born to do something.

She just didn’t know what.

As she walked, a soft sound wove through the trees. She froze. It was creature-sound. But it was a foreign language, a tongue she’d never heard before- and she’d been raised in this forest. She knew almost every being’s voice.
She found her feet moving, her arms pushing branches out of the way as she headed towards the strange noise. Words floated past her, words she didn’t understand:

Beware, beware,

Beware the silver eyes.

It was like the songs the birds sang, she thought. It was music. And it was irresistible.

She stumbled out into a clearing, blinking away the sudden sunlight that shone down on her.

And that was when she saw the thing. It wasn’t any creature she’d met, after all.

For this creature looked like her. Right down to the silver, silver eyes.

The creature’s singing had ceased; it was staring intently at her with its own moon-eyes. It was standing in front of some sort of den, except this one was made of trees. There were flowers and herbs and other plants she recognized, sprouting in front of the den; the creature was hovering near them. She didn’t know what it had been doing with the plants, for it had stopped moving entirely. Then, the corners of its mouth went up, and somehow, it wasn’t threatening, like when the wolves showed their teeth. Somehow, it made her step even closer to the thing, before she realized what she was doing and stopped.

The witch smiled as she watched the little girl approach. She’d been waiting. Hoping. Praying that this girl would be the one. And now, here she was. The girl stood a few steps away from her. Watching her, like how a wolf might watch a bear.

She extended her hand to the child, which only caused her to jump back. Yes, this was a wolf-child indeed. What she’d heard had been true.

‘Come, child.’ Even her voice seemed to scare the girl, but their eyes still held. ‘You have a lot to learn.’

Then, she switched to wolf-tongue.

‘It is your destiny.’

The words rang like a wolf’s howl in the girl’s mind. This creature knew, it knew! It knew what the forest wanted. It knew the ancient language of her family. Which meant the wolves had trusted this creature- and she trusted the wolves.

Tentatively, she shuffled forward. The creature’s mouth curved upwards even more, but it dropped its arm.
And then it began to sing.

The witch sang to the child, whose silver eyes never once left her own. And as the moon rose over the treetops and the strange, beautiful music poured into the child’s heart, the girl understood.

She understood.

[note: this is meant to be in a human au, and it doesn't exactly explain why she covers her eyes - but that's all to come :>]

story: A star soccer player, queen of the field, they called her.
"She hasn't lost a game!"
"What a wonder!"

11:00. Why does it have to late?
Pulling into the driveway, Clarence thought about her hold up at the local grocery. As she exited her care, a wave of unease brushed her spine. "Who's there?" She called, a tremble in her voice. I'd be terrible in a horror movie, calling after an intruder like that. Going off topic was the only thing to keep her fear tamed. A clinging sounded through the midnight sky as Clarence pulled her keys out of her pocket. She reached for the knob, but then everything went black.

She woke up at the hospital. She had been hit in the back of the head, hard enough to cause her to loose vision in her right eye. She persevered, and is still plays incredibly, but she is terrified to go home. Someone could be waiting just a round the corner to steal her vision from her once and for all. She lives with her parents know, and visits therapy each week.
