Personally, I don't think there should be an extension.
To keep it simple, I have a very taxing life, and yet still managed to complete the form.
Had time been used with care, such as taking a small amount of time each day (such as half an or to an hour) the form easily could have been finished. Yes, things get in the way, but this is not a complex form. It is limited to five hundred words for the story, we aren't writing a novel. And the minimum for art is one piece, not three, not four, one. I understand life, it takes time to live and be successful, but the form for this kia (if done simply to the requirements) really doesn't take long. Yes, one could want to over achieve, but it isn't required to stand a chance at winning.
End dates, typically, are set for a reason. A minor example, say you're at school and you're given a week to write an essay, just a five paragraph expository essay on a given topic. More than enough time was provided, and it is likely the teacher won't be giving extra time. My point being, Apple is the teacher in this scenario, she shouldn't have to change a deadline because the class didn't do their essays, they simply get a bad grade, or in this case disqualified.
But, that is simply my opinion. Please don't take it to heart as it isn't directed specifically at anyone. If there is an extension I won't complain, as I still have many things I could do with my form.
