They are all stabding close to the chest and Asami is about to open it with a key she found, Aeryn and Snow were standing side by side, they weren't expecting anything dangerous to happen.
Asami placed the key on the chest but the chest didn't open..
Asami was so confused, everything she did was right so why wasn't it opening? She waited for a few seconds and asked for the other.
Sam: Why isn't it opening? The key turned.. It should've been open. I though i had everything under control.. - She said with her head down.
Snow came close to her and tried conforting her. - Well, have you tried turning the other direction? Maybe that's the problem.
Sam: Uh i did, it's probrably the key.
They've waited a bit but nothing happened.
- That's ok, this could've been worse? - Said Aeryn, she apreciated Asami's effort but she wanted to get out of that place - But we should get going by now..
- Yea.. - Asami was getting up when suddently the chest made a weird noise. - Was i the only one who heard that?
The chest started shaking like crazy, they were all confused, but the chest stopped.. It seems that it was covered in some black goo.
- What the.. Sam i think it's best for you to get out of there! - Said Aeryn worried.
Asami backed off and joined Snow and Aeryn who were standing a little bit far from the chest. The chest seemed to be taking a form of a beast, it was covered with black goo and it didn't have any eyes.
Snow seemed to be very confused about the situation but he quickly got he's sword. - What the heck is going on?
- It's a mimic! - yelled Aeryn.
- That's great to know.. Now what exactly it's this mimic thing? - Replied Snow
- It's a sort of a shapeshifter and i'm afraid we fell on they're trap. - Said Aeryn
- Aw wait a mimic? That's surely not good, how could i be so fool. - Said Asami, she felt so bad.
- Don't worry dear, it's not your fault.. Now how do we kill this thing? - Said Snow
- We don't.. - Said Aeryn backing off
The creature could smell them from miles and they attacked Snow, he was able to block the attack with he's sword but it doesn't seem he'll be able to hold it for too long.
- Wait wha.. What do you mean "we don't"?!
- They're only weaknesses is the sun light, i'm afraid we don't have any sun around here. - Replied Asami.
- But we have a different light.. - Said Aeryn looking for the lava close to them, Snow quickly realised what Aeryn wanted to do and he said: - Oh no you don't..
- Then watch me. - Shed grabbed a small rock that was by her side and threw it on the creature to get they're attention and that's exactly what happened.
The creature completly forgot about Snow and immediatly started to run into Aeryn's direction, she was standing way too close to the lava but she didn't move, the creature then prepared to jump on her and so they did but Aeryn was smaller then they though and she ended up dodging in time and the lava consumed the shapesifter.
- Looks like someone miscalculated. - Said Aeryn moving away from the lava.
- Good one. - Complimented Snow.
Aeryn was feeling victorious while Snow and Asami were glad the didn't got hurt.
It didn't took long for they to start following theyr path.

(Morgue)

Oh dear. The creature in front of him growled playfully and Morgue opened his eyes to peer in confusion. Despite his obvious vulnerability, he refused to pull out his blade and with the beast this close he was certain he would be attacked. But no attack came. Instead, the mimic in front of him seemed almost, apprehensive as though waiting for something.

The chicken from before was still weeping in emotional filled clucks beside him and he tilted his head as it pecked gently at his robes. As though impatient and strangely enough in askance. As though asking him for...

"More?"

The chest like beast rattled and Morgue could feel it shifting closer, its teeth catching gently to his robes and tugging in the same manner as the chicken.

Morgue felt bewildered. What in the gods names' was happening here? The fire chicken gave a sad cluck and nudged it's warm face against his hand and gently he began to hum. He supposed it didn't make sense and it definitely wouldn't be something he could just tell his parents when he got home and hoped they'd believe him but he knew right then and there he was not home and there were fire chickens who loved singing and playful mimics who like to try trundling along when the song ends and always finding a way to chew on his robe sleeves at every turn like a puppy.

Maybe not what he expected but the nearly blind kalon smiles quietly. A strange tale for a strange kalon like himself.

You can't flee! You have a fight to win! Now beat that chest-monster into a pulp. What will your next action be?

Oh, duh! You shouldn't go into this blindly. Plan A is a team up between you and Rize. You give him a power, acidic potion you like to call M4YO. It has a sour, citrus smell and is a neon pink. Gently, you fasten the corrosive to the tip of an arrow, as dousing it would cause the arrow to ashen and melt, and let Rize to the dirty work. Plan B is much simpler in comparison. You simply toss your sandwich to the growling beast, with only one added ingredient. You've used this trick only once, and it worked quite well, especially due to its juvenile nature. Taking out your lovey egg from the lunch you'll have to pass on, you replace it with a gorgeous mixture of dream potion and coma paste. What will you choose?

You choose Plan B! You unwrap your turkey sandwich and hope you can last long enough on your breakfast. In goes the tonic! You lob the kitchen nightmare into the air, right next to the snarling box man. Sadly, you've wasted about three minutes and a good sandwich. It doesn't seem to take interest in your food. What will you do?

But you don't wanna! Rize is clearly enjoying himself, up on that ledge over there. How'd he even get up there? Whatever. You motion for him to use the monster mix you've created, but he didn't seem to hear you. You try to get closers but you're already too close to the lava pools. He can't hear you from where you are. What will you do now?

Oh well. You hope your aim is as good as you claim it to be.

Just as you throw it, an arrow shoots from behind you, lodging itself into the mimic. The M4YO bottle lands spot on as well! What incredible luck! But wait, the M4YO bottle isn't corroding the mimic! It's just turning to stone. Hmm. Maybe you added too much frog's breath. Oh well, you won, even with an unintended victory!

"a gimmick mimic"

shelbie opened the water canteen she recieved from inside the chest, then all of a sudden, a tongue came out of nowhere and grabbed the canteen back, and it disappeared inside the chest again. shelbie took a step back, dtartled and frightened. what she once thought was an average chest, turned into some sort of monster with gnarled teeth and a long, slippery and slimy tongue. the 'chest's mouth opened up and down and began to make odd growling noises. it didnt have any legs, the chest was hopping up and down.

shelbie' eyes widened alertly, turning to both of her friends. "that... was NOT a chest! what is that? um, nevermind that, we have to get out of here!" shelbie yelled. the three kalons hurriedly climbed out of the hole they were in. while everyone else was running, cain turned back to look at the hole. this chest couldn't just be left there alone, it could easily fool any other newcomer just like them. "cain, what are you doing? hurry, run before it gets to you!" shelbie called. the chest continued to make creaking noises as it began to hop slowly towards cain. "don't worry, guys!" he called back. he grabbed a shovel and quickly buried the chest that was in the hole back with dirt. the chest didn't respond well to it and began coughing as dirt got stuck in it's mouth. eventually, it switched back to a normal chest and accepted it's fate as it was being buried.

cain panted. "that was a mimic. i didn't think we would encounter one during our quest- but we did," kyrou explained. cain and shelbie nodded. "yeah. honestly, on the spur of the moment, we didn't even think about fighting it. hopefully no one else will find that mimic since it's been buried now," cain said.

Artemis was collecting fire wood when she bumped into a
mimic. The mimic rose to face Artemis. "Ah! Please leave
me be!" Artemis yelped. The mimic didn't seem to under-
stand what Artemis said. "Time four me to leave, bye!"
Artemis said. She turned and ran as fast as her paws would
carry her. The mimic was hot on her trail.

Cinna stood over a fire. It was hot enough to cook the meal
she had planned for dinner. "Hey, Feliks, do we have anymore
fire wood?" Cinna asked.
"No, I sent Artemis to get some more. She should of been back
by now." Feliks replied. He gathered a few leaves to help the fire
burn it bit longer.
Screams could be heard in the distance. Feliks reached for his
sword while Cinna got her battle hammer. Artemis came running
with the fire wood on her back. "A mimic is chasing me!" Artemis
said. Terror was in her eyes as she spook.
"There's no such thing as a mimic, Artemis. Stop being so si-"
Cinna said, but she paused midway at the sight of a mimic in
front of her. "Run!" she shouted, making a mad dash away
from the mimic. Artemis dropped the fire wood and grabbed
her bow. She shot and missed by mere centimeters. She gave
up and joined the dash away. "We will not survive if we run."
Cinna shout to Artemis and Feliks. She turned around with her
battle hammer in hand. She threw it at the mimic. The hit left
cracks in it. Feliks and Artemis soon turned around, weapons in
hand. The mimic looked confused as its chase was cut short. It
was cornered by the three of them. It retreated into its chest form.

prompt // using paige!!

paige jumped as the mimic- of which she thought was a chest- suddenly jumped on her. she squirmed, trying to escape the mythical creatures teeth. it chomped on her leg, and she felt a pain slice through her.

she quickly grabbed one of her potions from her bag, and threw it on the mimic. she hadn't stopped to read what it was, so she just prayed it was helpful. as it landed, she heard the thing yell, and she saw it wobble, but the fight was not over.

as she was let go, she needed to end the mimic chest. she rummaged through her bag, finally finding one that read “deep sleep” and threw it on the mimic.

as the beast calmed, and finally passed out, she had no idea what to do with it. she had used her death potion by the inn, and didn't have anymore.

she decided she'd throw it in lake.
