Both the Chicoon and the parasite have names!
Belphegor is named due to his design - his theme is moon, stars, and sleep. Belphegor is the name of the demon of sloth, which is (obviously) associated with laziness and sleeping in. In general I plan to have Belphegor be a more laid-back and constantly-sleepy Chicoon no matter how complex he gets. (Honestly, the more complex, the funnier the "crazy Chicoon is literally just tired all the time" idea gets.)
I definitely overdesigned him a bunch considering how much he'll end up changing, but I was having so much fun and it gave me the name idea in the first place anyways. :,)
The parasite is named Nightmare because it feels like an opposite. When you sleep, you hope for dreams you know? Nice dreams and then you wake up in the morning all refreshed and ready to go for the day. Since Nightmare's main parasitic appearance is razor-sharp toothed Chicoon head, it likes to bite Belphegor and wake him up all the time, like a living nightmare. So it's simultaneously a nickname given to it by Belphegor, but also just a meta name to clash with Belphegor's name like their colors do.

They were not originally named "Janus". It is a name they adopted after becoming who they are today. They do not consider themselves single organisms anymore; only two halves of a whole. Originally the hosts name was Atticus but upon meeting the other being that makes up "Janus", the name felt wrong. It felt wrong to refer to only one being when there were clearly two. It also felt wrong to go by two different names when they are so entwined. They were never whole people on their own; they became whole together, so it only felt right to adopt a name that would encompass them both. So, they chose to adopt the name after a Roman god of beginnings and doorways. This god was often depicted as having two faces looking in opposite directions.

Beatrix received her name when she had first arrived to her current village. Before this she had no name. The village welcomed her with open arms. It was uncommon for the village to see such a strange looking chicoon so they knew she had to be special. Her village views her as a gift from the world. She was sent there as a sign of good things to come, a prophecy for the future so to say. They named her Beatrix, meaning "she who brings happiness or blessed" Due to her unique nature Beatrix is held in incredibly high regard among her new family. She respects them just as much as they respect her and she truly does her best to help them out. She may not understand all their prophecy talk, but she wants what's best for them regardless.
