Marie is an astrochemistry aficionado, a field dominated by male scientists. Curium was named after her own namesake, Marie Curie, so she feels as if they are connected. Curium is dangerous and highly toxic, just as Marie is. She has a fiery and untamable spirit, and Curium is the embodiment of that. Not only is it dangerous, but it's practical in the scientific field, and is important in the science of x-Ray spectroscopy, the field Marie specializes in.

i thought this name would fit him just because his color scheme reminded
me of some sort of sherbert or ice cream, so i'd name him after the
japanese-originated treat, ice cream mochi.

why it's special to him;;

space is a vast place, full of nooks and crannies left undiscovered and
untouched from humankind.. or, rather, kia-kind, too. hydrogen is one
of the main elements that make the sun burn, and mochi's dreams are
to hop on a spacecraft and drift closer to the sun. he's been told his fur
looks like a sunset, so he wants to view the inspiration for said sunsets
up close. it's mostly just a fascination with all of the universe and all
of the stars, but the sun (though he'd probably burn to a crisp) is his
hopeful destination. (ninety-eight words)

- What name would fit a Kia who looks like he is made of sunlight, enveloped in fire? This is honestly the name that appeared in my mind instantly when seeing him. I love Greek mythology and to me this Kia is the true Hyperion, the Titan of Light, father of the Dawn, the Sun and the Moon!

For Hyperion it has always been a difficult choice, Helios and Selene are both the children of his namesake, so it seemed likely that he would choose Helium or Selenium. But Selenium will always win out. Hyperion loves working with glass, he blows glass and sells his produce and he loves the colour Selenium can give to his work. He can hit shades of red he never imagined by using this element in his career. He also, quite worryingly, loves the idea of an element that can literally seep into your body through your skin.

Molybdenum is Cyrus's favorite element because this is one of the main elements in steel. Steel is an important part of Cryus's life, since he a blacksmith. Cyrus creates all kinds of things out of scrap metal, giving them a new purpose, using his gift to recycle and create useful things. He works with different types of metal, but steel is his favorite. He loves to challenge himself, by trying to use different metals, but he always ends up going back to steel. It is what he grew up working with, and he couldn't image how his life and the world would be like with out it.

Kine works as a scientist studying new ways to develop solar energy,
and silicon is an integral part of most, if not all, solar cells. Silicon to
her represents the new age of technology, and Kine has always been
one who prefers moving forward to staying in the past-- a sunrise is
a new beginning, after all.
