Cannelle has a male pet Peacock (mostly because she loves their giant, exotic tails) named Quill.

She wouldn't have Quill without a "reasonable explaination" (She loves facts, and strives to be right). I mean, you don't just walk into a pet store and say, "Can I have a pet peacock? *looks up with big sparkly eyes*" Peacocks aren't meant to be pets.
Well one day, when Cannelle was walking around in a park near the ocean on an early Autumn day (she loves the calm sound of the waves rolling in from the sea), she spotted something blue. A large peacock, with giant feathers ranging from molten brown to moss green and sapphire blue with emeerald green. Okay..... she thought. Well, not every day you see a huge colorful bird around, huh. Maybe it's lost from a zoo. Cannelle decided to ignore it, or should I say him, and continue to mope around as usual. She didn't want to get involved with 'social interaction', even if it was just to tell a zoo about some missing animal. The peacock eventually wandered away.
Later on that day as she walked home, she saw a flash of royal blue in the middle of a busy street. As much as she doesn't want to admit it, that peacock was pretty, and it wouldn't be a pretty sight to see lying dead on a busy road. So when the light turned red, she ran as fast as she could - which honestly is not fast - and grabbed the thing around his fancy feathers.
A few minutes later, there wasn't just Cannelle sitting in front of her warm fireplace. A large peacock, making ramdom small bird noises was also in her house. Being the clueless bean she seemed to be, she thought, Okay, I have a huge peacock - assuming it's a boy for his feathers - in my living room. Not expected at all.
So Cannelle tried to actually keep Quill as a pet (She gave him a name. And once you give something a name, you get attached). At first it didn't work out. "Shut up you lazy bird, I'm trying to sleep!" Don't they sell little crickets to feed to snakes at Pet Smart or wherever? She later found out that peacocks can eat flower petals, plus a lot of other information off Wikipedia.
Even though peacocks aren't pets, Cannelle never regrets the day she saved Quill, as a friendship was made.
