He was born the same as any young hare, and grew into a regular adult- though he had a hatred for the size of his antlers. They were smaller than many other bucks in his colony and this angered him. He saught out old magiks to grow his antlers longer, he succame to the forest and allowed his spirit to be changed. His body became wracked with life as wood grew from his bone, piercing his flesh and causing his antlers to grow knarled and long. In exchange for this 'gift' he became forever in debted to the forest. To stay alive he was tasked to lure others to give themselves to the forest, turning them into eidelwood trees whos black oily sap would sustain him.

I saw this guy and thought "this reminds me of the beast from over the garden wall" so thats what inspiredthe writing :3

Yes! As a kit, their tree and the roots were much, much smaller than they are now. The antlers were just sprouts of trees and the roots barely poked up from their back with an inkling that it would stretch down towards their legs. Their eyes were basic slate color without the glow rather than the white that they are now. The prediction is that the plants will continue to grow with age.
