Name: Shimmering Gold (Shimmer))
Weather Picture:

Why It's His Favourite: Shimmering was only 6 months old when disaster struck his herd for the first time. They roamed over the open plains, and a recent drought had made water and food scarce. Many of the mares had become weak, they spent more and more time resting in the shade then trying to find this missing, needed resources. As a colt, Shimmer tried to run around, kicking rocks and pawing the ground to try and find some secret, hidden well spring. Eventually, tired himself he returned to the side of his mother, who weakly panted in the shaded heat. " I'm sorry.. mama..." He whispered, and the mare shifted her head to look at her colt. Before she could get any words out, a loud crack shattered the silence, and Shimmer bolted up, startled with his fur on end. He glanced around wildly, having just noticed dark clouds starting to roll over them. As he watched, a streak of pure light stretched from one cloud to the next, lighting up the vally they had taken shelter in. Another loud rumble shook through the herd. Knowingly, the Equids strong enough started to help the weaker ones under the rock that had been a shaded shelter. Not too much long after, rain started to beat down on the area around them. Many cries of relief as water started pooling around them where drowned out by the force of the storm. Shimmer had tried to dash out into the water to somehow bring some to his mother, but she managed to bite his mane to keep him next to her. So he instead started pawing the ground just in from of them, letting water slowly fill it for a small drinking pool. After they had their fill of water, they simply watched the storm rage around them. After a little while, the rain eased up into a drizzle, and the loud booms had stopped. Shimmer hopped up to his feet and dashed out, looking into the sky. He stopped when he saw a beautiful streak of colors across the sky. He had come to learn that they where called rainbows, and served as a reminder that they could weather the harshest conditions, if they just remembered to look for the rainbows at the end of the storm.
