Name: Amethyst
How does she react:
Amethyst was tentative, tired, filled with trepidation. Anxiety gnawed at her, the relentless pull of the unknown flickering across her silvery coat. Her eyes clung stubbornly to the ground, her ears pressed flat against her head, tail curled tight around one trembling leg. Doubts crowded her mind, would they hate her, would they love her, would they even care? Would they care?
A single glance upward, brief and stolen, met the gaze of another equid. The intensity was too much, a weight she wasn’t ready to bear. Her eyelids snapped shut, shielding her from the moment. Maybe, just maybe, if she just left quietly, they wouldn’t forget she was even there. Would they care if she left?
But before she could retreat, something unexpected happened. A soft breeze, warm and reassuring, whispered over her face. A gentle breath, a faint buzzing of closeness, and then a soft touch. Tender and deliberate, delicate, brushed against her cheek. Knowing that she was ready to run, bolt, or even dissapear. The voice that followed was steady, grounded, and patient:
"Lift your head, child, no need for fear. We’re kin and we care for our own."
The words carried a power beyond what she could understand. It was as though a storm had broken and cleared in an instant, leaving her standing speechless, sputtering. Her eyes fluttered open, meeting the kind gaze of the one who spoke. The storm within her began to dissolve, her fear rolling away like thunder fading into the distance. Anxiety lifted, swept away with the clouds, and her taut shoulders eased into a quiet, unfamiliar comfort.
She was weightless, like a feather. Something shifted within her, a spark, a lightness, a courage she hadn’t known she carried. The burden of doubt falling behind her. Then she was off. Her hooves struck the ground in a joyous rhythm, kicking up bursts of life beneath her. She played, she pranced, her happiness was a melody among the herd’s steady chorus. They welcomed her their affection tangible and unwavering.
They loved her, and she loved them. They were family. They cared.
