fondest fall memory: Nothing has been more fun than going to the pumpkin patch every autumn. Not only was it exciting to find that perfect pumpkin, but the air was filled with the smell of autumn leaves and apple cider.
Tulare went to a quaint, family-owned pumpkin patch. After grabbing a wheelbarrow, she trekked into the expansive field, searching for the ideal pumpkin. Every pumpkin had its own character - some round and smooth, others bumpy and misshaped. She found one that looked like it had a crooked smile and another almost a flawless sphere. Halfway through, Tulare took a break as she had not yet found her perfect pumpkin. She sat on hay bales, sipping warm apple cider, and snacking on homemade gooey caramel apples. As the sun dipped lower, she knew her time was running out. She started to worry that all the good ones might be gone, but then she saw it near the back of the field. There was a pumpkin covered in vines and twigs, hiding from all those walking by. Tulare raced over to the pumpkin, and as she got closer it got bigger. She could not believe the beauty she found; almost as big as her! She brushed away the creeping plants to see its perfection and knew this was the one as her eyes twinkled with happiness. Now that she found her pumpkin, she could not wait to figure out what to carve into it and eat the delicious delicacy waiting inside.

least favorite candy: Charisma was so excited to go through the bag of candy after trick-or-treating that night. It all looked amazing with lots of favorites and some new ones never seen before. As she sorted out ones she loved, candies she knew were not her taste, and some she had no idea about, there was one in the pile of new candies she thought to try first. As Charisma un-wrapped it, she noticed it looked like licorice and got excited. The odd part was that it was black, but thought maybe it was just a color change for halloween. As she tossed it in her mouth hoping to just be eating regular licorice, she froze. Her eyes got wide and her face scrunched up. She spit it out and shook her head with her tongue hanging out, coughing to get the taste out and grabbing her tongue with her little paws as to brush the flavor off. Charisma looked at the chewed up piece of candy, squinted her eyes at it and kicked it away. Never again would she eat another black licorice.

best way to spend a nice fall day: As the air becomes crip, leaves fall in a tapestry of colors, and there’s this subtle chill that hints at the approaching winter; Turmeric knows it is time to have his favorite meal again. There’s something uniquely comforting about eating a bowl of ramen on an autumn day. With a steaming bowl of noodles, the warmth radiates from the fragrant broth, enveloping him in a cozy embrace. The rich aroma of the simmering stock mingles with the earthy scent of bamboo shoots, the sweetness of egg, and the gentle tang of green onions. Turmeric’s favorite part of the ramen is the soft-boiled egg with a perfectly golden, jammy center, and tender slices of chashu pork belly, nestled atop the noodles. He also loves the broth and the deep amber color, shimmering with chili oils. As he takes his first bite lifting the noodles—slick and springy—from the bowl, steam rises, carrying with it the scents that excite his senses further. The broth, rich and savory, fills him with a comforting warmth with each slurp. It's like a symphony of flavors that perfectly capture the season’s essence. The combination of the warm, hearty broth and the crisp, cool air creates a balance, a harmony that’s both invigorating and deeply satisfying.
