Prompt: amalthea, or thea for short, has always been a menace when it comes to puppies. from the time she was six months old, she showed an eager interest in any litters at solas kennels. she was an eager babysitter when the dams needed a break and was happy to let the puppies use her as a climbing frame and chew toy. or to curl up with the litter and take a nap with them. as she got older, she became an invaluable member of the socialization crew. as the puppies get older, she teaches them manners, her tolerance for being used as a chew toy and jungle gym fades and she corrects them and teaches them more polite ways to play.
thea has been a foster mother to several bottle fed puppies in the solas kennels. while unable to feed them herself, she did groom them, cuddle them, play with them, and teach them manners. she has also been a foster mother to several litters of foster kittens. the first time she chewed through a door and was found the next morning cuddling the litter of kittens and grooming them, and seemed to give a 'why did you keep them from me in the first place?' look when found. she was checked out at the vet to ensure she didn't damage her mouth while chewing through the door but everything was fine and she was soon reunited with her kittens. with both her canine and feline adoptive babies, she continues to dote on them sometimes as though they are still babies. she can often be found having climbed the largest cat tree to snuggle in the top bed with two, or sometimes more, or her now adult babies. she has even been a foster mother to pygmy goat once!
thea already has quite a large family of adoptive and foster puppies (and kittens) that will likely continue to grow as puppies and kittens in need pass through solas kennels, but when the day comes that she adds some biological puppies to that mix too, you can be assured she will be overjoyed and dote on them the way she always has with her non-biological offspring, showering them with love while also teaching them proper manners once they are old enough and need to know.
