- ”Stars are a gift to us. They can tell us many things and our job is to weave them into something even more meaningful.”
Estrella is a constellation weaver. She hails from a family who weaves stars into constellations. Their job? As its namesake, they are tasked to create constellations out of stars.
Initially, Estrella doesn’t quite understand it. It’s just stars. Just grab a bunch and thread them together. What’s so difficult about that? However, she realised that it isn’t as simple as that. The placement, size and luminosity of the stars matter. A haphazard mess of stars will confuse everyone. Many life forms rely on stars to navigate their way through the dark abysmal space. Hence, they use constellations are their guides.
Estrella’s current goal is to practice her skills at constellation weaving. She still struggles to choose stars based on their luminosity. After staring at different stars all day, the brightness of each star gets harder and harder to tell apart. She might need some visual aid to help but this is what she hopes to get better at.
With time, Estrella’s long-term goal is to takeover the job and let her parents rest. They’ve done constellation weaving for eons and she believes that they deserve to have a break.
