Recipe:
- Okay, stay with me here, what is bubble tea if not a dessert smoothie in the most generous terms
- 1 - 2 grapefruit
- 1 - 2 mangos
- 1 1/2 cups Jasmine green tea (chilled)
- ice - optional but can help cool it down
- sweetener - ie honey, maple syrup, just straight up sugar
- toppings - grass jelly, mango jelly
I personally don’t like tapioca pearls, but feel free to boil them and add them as well.
I really enjoy a blend of mango and grapefruit! You will need a wide straw!!
- Take your 1 mango without the skin and cube them up.
- Add more mango as desired, a quarter of a mango can also just be in cubes to throw into the cup later.
- Take the grapefruit and cut it in half. Juice it up manually OR if you know exactly how much grapefruit you like, put that much in the blender. Other wise, better do it separate so you can add it to taste.
- Stick the mango cubes into a blender and blend it until it’s from jammy to smooth. Strain it if desired.
- Optional step, take the mango juice and blend it with ice and green tea if you want a more slush consistency.
- Non optional step - take the fruit and the green tea and mix it in a 3 tea : 1 juice ratio and add sweetener to taste in a cup. A bigger, taller cup is probably better.
- Take the jelly toppings and scoop them into the cup. Grass jelly is bittersweet, I usually use three nice spoonfuls. Mango jelly is sweet, I cover the bottom of the glass. And then some. Add the mango cubes here if you so desire!
And all done, a nice tangy and sweet smoothie. The sugar boost and fruit carbs will help pick you up!
I highly recommend other bubble tea flavours with all the fun fruits like peaches, lychee, passion fruit, the works!!
