You wish to hear about Tarot's... personality? That's a request I've never heard of. Where shall I begin... I've known him since I was a mere foal who just became aware of the world around him. He was a small kitten too then, barely as big as my muzzle. I remember his fur was silver then, but it did not have the glimmer it does today. His fur has been becoming more and more well-groomed as the years go by.
Tarot loves causing trouble. He won't call it trouble, but our master always does. Swapping the position of two potion bottles one day, leaving a dead mouse on the doormat the next, hiding my ribbons under the cupboard the day after... He never runs out of ideas for new surprises. He calls this fun, and I do have to admit that it does get entertaining sometimes. And I suppose this trait is what makes him exceptionally good at cheering others up. When my time is filled with travelling, I can always count on him to do something to brighten up the day and liven up the atmosphere. When the day is especially bad, he seems to be able to tell how I am feeling and brings me my snacks or steals a new trinket off our master's worktable to show me (though I don't entirely condone this, but it does warm my heart). Despite his troublemaking, he's caring too.
Oh, speaking of books. When he's not making trouble, he reads our master's books. I have heard that this is strange news to most people, but Tarot has become quite knowledgeable because of this habit. Perhaps he reads those books to know what's in which potion on our master's potion cupboard so he knows which one to hide? Who knows. He marks papers that he has read with a pawprint, so you can expect a lot of our master's books have pawprints on them. Tarot sometimes shares with me the insights he gains, and I can tell from the excitement in his eyes that he enjoys reading. I personally don't read all that much, I prefer watching our master make new trinkets and charms and things of the sort.
I must remind you, however, due to the nature of the question you have asked: Tarot is not up for adoption, or sale, or trade or anything of the sort humans have. We've accompanied each other since we were both barely three days old, and we would never part with each other. He's a companion who never fails to fill my days with energy and something unexpected or another, and my life would be very different and much more dull without him around. I will never trade his friendship away for anything in the world.
If that's all, I should go. Thank you kindly for this chat. Tarot might be off playing with some children again, and I need to keep an eye on that. He's always so outgoing and seeking new people to meet, be it humans or other familiars. He tells me to do the same, but it really isn't my thing. Oh, did I mention that sometimes he learns spells from our master's books, and uses them? His favourite is the one that covers the target in glitter. I don't even know why our master had a spell for that one. But if you will excuse me ----........... Did Arcana just leave this paper unattended here? Oh, you're still reading it? That explains it then. He always sounds so formal, doesn't he? He speaks like that to me too. He's not treating you in a distant way, he just doesn't express his emotions all that well. It must be because of all the ribbons in his mane. ... Though I would like to have ribbons in my fur too, but it would be difficult to groom it and glitter it. I don't think glittery ribbons suits me all that much. Anyway. Thank you for visiting today, and if you want a spell or two just talk to our master. Don't ask for the potion with chamomile in it though, because I swapped it out with a potion containing pickles. ... Don't ask me where I got it from. Magician's secret. πΎ
- Note: Arcana and his silver tabby Abyssinian cat companion Tarot are familiars of a travelling fairβs diviner. Having been surrounded by magical items, cards and books since they were young, both of them have attained some mystical qualities to themselves. This includes being able to read, understand human speech and utilise some of their master's magical items, including a scroll that lets them communicate with humans.
