prompt :: Irmine collects pearls. She claims that pearls hold souls who’s bodies have perished. She keeps them in a secret cave, called the cave of souls. Only those she deems worthy can see the cave. She collects the souls of those who have passed on from this world, and the pearls must end up in the cave at least once, and once the pearl does, the soul is free.

She lost her lover due to the fact that he was a land kal, with no way of breathing underwater, and she is a mer kal who thrives in the water. They kept seeing each other until he mysteriously disappeared and his soul pearl was never found. Whether or not he perished is a mystery. She is still a bit pained about this to this day.

With a braid tossed over her shoulder, Jeanne ducked into her office aboard the ship - her ship, to be exact. With the chair at her desk already pushed out from the last time she had left, she comfortably sat down and laid a pouch of gold on the table; it was time to count out her earnings for the day. “Two-hundred thirty nine, two-hundred forty…” An almost silent scoff escaped her mouth as an unsavoury realization dawned on her. “I’m short five gold.” Now Jeanne wouldn’t describe herself as some sort of penny pincher, but money was important to her. Every last coin was special to her in one way or another. Obviously, it was a symbol of wealth - something that was far and few between in her youth. It’s likely that very reason she found herself so fond numbers as well. It was satisfying to watch her wealth grow; Jeanne was sure anyone would agree with her. That, and why would she waste her time collecting useless Knick knacks? There was no need for excess weight on her ship.

Determined to locate her missing coins, Jeanne stood from her desk and made sure to adjust and flatten out her attire. While money was important, Jeanne would argue looking presentable was just as valuable. “Now, time for me to check in on my crew.” She would find those coins she surely must have misplaced…

prompt :: The bookshelf is an immense oaken presence in the small room, spanning the entire width and height of the far wall. Jam-packed with records of all sorts; bound books, notepads, scrolls, binders, and loose pieces of paper shoved cattywampus in any space they can fit. You can see bits of messy handwriting scrawled on some of the sheets, but the letters are so frantic you can’t make out a word of what they say. Adelaide, who led you in here to show you her collection, smiles sheepishly.
“We’ll, you meet so many interesting folks traveling from port to port, it’s kind of second nature to write their stories.” She perks up, trotting over to one particularly weather-stained sheet and carefully working it free from the hoard. “Oh, here’s a good one! I once met a fisherman who lost his left arm to a seagull! I don’t even know how that’s physically possible, but it sure was an interesting story!” She hands you the parchment, practically shoving it into your arms before heel-turning back to her shelf. “And here’s one from when I met an old lighthouse keeper who swears she met a bona-fied selkie, and even got to try on her seal coat!” She pauses with the notebook in her hand, looking expectantly at you.
“So…this is what you do on your boat?”
“Well, I’ve got all sorts of time to kill after I deliver the mail, so why not collect peoples’ stories? You never know what you’re gonna hear!”

Perfect uniform, a long even stride, magnificent. When others saw him walk past they stopped promptly what they were doing, before giving a strong bow, then continued with what they were doing with even more vigor. Reaching his office door and with a twist of his wrist he entered before locking it from the inside. Pressing a button on the wall shutters lowered over his windows and lights switched on. Giving a deep breath he un-tightened his tie, tossing it onto his chair before rolling up his sleeves. Pulling a painting away from a wall he revealed a password locked door, to which he carefully inputted the code into and promptly entered before shutting the door behind himself.

Pulling up a chair he sat with a stern expression, a harsh light shining down into the centre of the room. What was there? Asura slowly reached out with a single finger and tapped down, then moved across and tapped again, doing the same thing over and over. Asura just sat, his stern expression slowly turning vivid and bright, a small smile creeping onto his lips. What was he looking at? Rows and rows of maneki-neko (lucky cats), their paws moving up and down. Different sizes, different shapes, different colours, so many waving paws one could not take their eyes away. His one little hidden joy, watching those little cats waving their paws, quietly the stark contrast to his usual persona. Asura was a fanatical collector of these waving happy cats.

      the vibrant colors of a coral reef danced in front of her eyes, appearing to move and flicker as low sunbeams streamed through brilliant blue water. waves crashed on the surface high above her, but down here the water moved only in gentle currents, keeping her afloat above her quarry. the sight before her was intoxicating, it's beauty incomparable, doing well to capturing her discerning eye.

      the camera shutter went off, the lens flashing, unwittingly frightening a school of a dozen brightly-colored fish that would hurriedly glide away from the source. for a moment she stilled, attentively scanning every inch of her screen, but soon she roused and the sound of the shutter resonated throughout the water again.

      minutes later she found herself on the surface of the water, clutching the side of a small boat as she pulled herself inside, removing a mask and snorkel to better examine her photos. she skillfully navigated her way back to the dock as she studied the pictures, depositing the camera into a bag she slung over her shoulder as she headed towards her front door.

      her keys jingled gently as the door clicked open, fading sunlight faintly illuminating the photograph-covered walls of her home. hundreds of images graced their every inch, each revealing moments of her life, captured forever in glistening polaroid. delicately, she removed her prized camera from it's carrier, placing it on it's predetermined pedestal with the others of it's ilk. tomorrow she'd see to getting those photos developed.

kalon name :: Leila
prompt :: 227 / 250
    Sending letters nowadays seems like such an old-fashioned way of communication, especially to Leila, who prefers calling and texting like any young Kalon. However, when she was little she came across a letter in a bottle stuck in the sand after a harsh storm. It had kicked up a lot of debris and trash, so a bottle lying on the ground was not surprising and was inevitably overlooked by those passing by. Not by Leila though, who stopped in her tracks and ran over to the bottle which had a gentle glitter from the sunlight. Most Kals would chalk that up to any kind of litter that showed up on shore, especially since the local area did not have a dedicated beach cleaning crew at the time. When she reached the bottle, she admired how decorated it was, how delicate everything was packaged inside before opening the bottle to read the letter. It was written in heartache for a loved one, yearning for the distance between them to come to a close. Leila was starstruck by this gift, for whom she may never know. As she got older, she collected more letters and put copies of them on a bulletin board in the town square and on her blog to allow others to help her find the Kalons they belonged to, and who they were meant for.

prompt ::Teapots (113 Words)
As a kit, Sienna was always fascinated with teapots, especially weird or otherwise non-functional ones. Her parents considered it a very odd thing to collect, but otherwise encouraged it to an extent. Realistically, the fascination didn't fall far from the tree, as both her mother and grandmother collect them too, and her childhood home is filled with cabinets full of weird teapots and tea sets, large and small alike. One tea set is shaped like a bunch of apples, and another she actually sculpted and made it shaped like her cat! It...doesn't look too great because she made it when she was a child, but it's still a very sentimental teapot to her.
Apple Tea set (Not an exact image, just something similar)

prompt :: as a member of a pirate crew, calamity doesn't have much time- or space, for that matter- to collect anything. but calamity is stubborn, and tends to find a way to do anything. she just has to find something unconventional, something easy to grab out on the open sea. and so, she took to the barnacles lining the ship's exterior, clinging onto the old waterlogged wood as they travel. (it's usually her duty to clean it off anyway.) hidden away from the rest of her crew, in her quarters, an old cabinet is filled stock full of barnacles and shells and any other sea junk that gets cleaned off the boat. sure, it's not the nicest collection, and maybe even a little smelly, but it's hers nonetheless and she couldn't be prouder of her little secret collection.

kalon name :: Captain Murron
prompt :: [250 / 250]

Captain Murron is commonly known as the most troublesome pirate of the seven seas. She's a ghost in all aspects - never in one place too long. The only proof of her continued existence is the destruction left behind wherever she goes; jewels snatched up and weapons stolen from any port she docks at.

The Captain hasn’t been around for too long though – perhaps a decade or so. It was as if she sprung from the seas themselves – flying across the oceans on a ship that no one can recall being built or stolen. Riches that she steals are sold - for food, drink and repairs to her ship. It's as if the gold is not enough to her – and the truth is, it’s not. She’s constantly after a fairytale – a myth among pirates.

The Siren Shells.

A Siren is rumored to be a powerful creature, with piercing eyes and a tail that melts into the very water it was made. Every pirate worth their bounty knows how dangerous a Siren truly is, and marks their maps to avoid the waters that are infested.

But every pirate worth their bounty knows how valuable a Siren Shell can be. A Siren Shell is made up of a Siren’s story – their life told in a series of crystalized tears. If you hold the shell, you hold a part of that Siren’s life in your very hands.

And Murron wants nothing more to find the Siren that shed the shells that she’s found.
