“Oh! My pet! Well, they aren’t really what you might
consider a pet but… to me they are.”
Laurel sheepishly rubbed their paws and glanced away,
“You know? It’s not that I don’t like animals, I’d own
a “pet” like all my friends do but it’s just, none fit.
They’re not for me…” they frowned, explaining,
“Cats scare me, don’t have enough energy for dogs, and I
can’t trust myself to keep a fish alive.
So this is what I have, but it’s enough to me, it’s alive.”
Laurel softly pet a leaf on a large houseplant.

caring for it, watching it grow, it makes me happy.”
