Prompt Response: features abnew & raft

Abnew was thrilled to be in the jungle. He wanted to try every plant that looked edible and get a smell of all the wildlife they came across. The variety of colorful flowers and birds, the giant trees and curling vines, the waters and stones in unfamiliar patterns - everything was new and exciting and every other moment his eye was caught by something else. He was most interested in the flowers, partially because they couldn’t run away from him, but mostly because they were so pretty. Raft patiently tagged along as Abnew explored, entertaining his impulsive dashing about and listening as he chattered about all the new and interesting things. There was a path full of the scents of gathering cats that they were following, but their journey along it only roughly stayed with the road. Eventually, they finally made it to the end of the path where all the travelling cats had been gathering, and were suddenly absolutely surrounded by cats after having seen none for many hours. Raft was a bit overwhelmed by the crowd, so he clung closer to Abnew’s side, and Abnew slowed down to allow him to keep pace easier (despite still wanting to run around and meet as many new cats as possible). They quickly learned that there were two different groups in attendance, as well as various visitors like them. The cheerful and fun-loving personalities of the Cityside got along very well with Abnew, while Raft found the Cliffside cats more interesting, since they seemed to communicate almost exclusively non-verbally. They had just sat down to discuss whether to ask these cats for shelter when Kardal commanded the attention of the gathered mass in order to explain what they were all doing here.
After the announcement of the competition, Abnew wanted to set out immediately to look for feathers, but wasn’t patient enough to wait and join a feather-finding team first. Raft managed to convince him to come back after initially sprinting off into the jungle at the drop of the feather, but only because Abnew was having a harder time navigating the unfamiliar geography than Raft was. After dragging Abnew back to the gathering area (which was now largely empty), Raft spoke with some of the remaining cats. They ended up joining the Cityside team because their curly fur reminded them of that strange cat who visited and brought the bountiful seasons, and Abnew thought they seemed lucky. Raft was curious to learn about the mysterious other group… but he didn’t mind joining the Cityside cats in the competition. They hunted around for a few hours on their own, but they didn’t have much success finding feathers on the first day. That evening, as they relaxed in the city and spoke with the cats of their group over a meal, a younger cat who had found several feathers already offered to give them some advice for finding them. Raft stayed up late, listening attentively to this cat’s instructions so that they might do better for the hospitable cats who had so kindly offered them shelter and food. He knew it was a game, but he felt that he and Abnew owed them at least a decent effort in return for their care.
