Name: solK doom and gloom // dolour
Gender: female
Prompt:
it was awake again.
it was always easy to know when it was - from the horrible loud growling and noise it let out as it shook against the kitchen tiles. slinking around the corner of the door, ears flat against her head, dolour made sure to keep low to the ground. the room was empty, except for the thing. she didn't Want to go any further into the room. maybe ... maybe the thing just sounded scary, but was actually nice? a few of the older collies were like that, she'd found. they looked scary, but after she'd plucked up the nerve to say hello, they'd actually been nice! letting out a small, plaintive whimper in the hopes that it would appease the ... Thing, dolour found her efforts were in vain.
if she could pout, she would. looking over her shoulder, dolour found the hallway empty too. there wasn't anyone around to help her. whining much more quietly to herself, the puppy took a deep breath and summoned every ounce of courage she could to take the step into the kitchen, shivering as her nails clicked noisily against the tiles. the Thing didn't react - it just kept shaking and growling as steadily as it had been before.
whimpering under her breath, dolour slowly, slowly crept closer until she was face to face with the thing. almost. up close, dolour's ears pricked and flattened again, curious but wary. what was ... it? up close, it didn't smell like anything she'd ever come across before. oh. oh! dolour suddenly felt very foolish. it wasn't a living thing - no, it was akin to the thing the older collies called 'the fridge' where humans took out delicious things.
but ... whatever it was, it had rabbit! dolour could see her (slightly chewed but no less) beloved toy going around and around in the water through the circular glass window into the washing machine. putting her paws up against it, she continued to cry, finally letting herself get loud. why was rabbit in there? she wanted to sleep! she was tired, but she couldn't nap without rabbit! but the washing machine still rattled on, and dolour's cries began heart wrenching howls, so loud she barely noticed one of her humans come into the kitchen to see what all the fuss was about. warm hands enclosed around her sides, stroking and shushing. "bunny needs a wash! and a dry. you'll have him back soon.'" soon. dolour didn't like this soon, popping her paws up onto her owner's knee and burying her face into their neck and whined again. she couldn't sleep without rabbit ...
she was still whining even as she coaxed into nodding off against her owner by their loving strokes.

Name: Nefertiti
Gender: Female
Prompt: Nefertiti isn't feeling good because her best friend and companion, a small hawk, has flown away! They were pals for a long time, since her owner found the small baby bird injured and took care of it at the same time that Nefertiti was being introduced to her new house and family. Afraid of the bigger collies and all the strangers, Nefertiti found herself safe staying beside the hawk, laying with it and keeping it warm. Nefer knew that this day would come sooner or later and that it means her little feathered friend is healthy and strong, but it doesn't make it easier for her.
