Prompt:Lion grunted as she woke up, her body feeling stiff from the cold winter air. She stretched in her nest, it seemed awfully big today, but she didn’t think about it that deeply before she headed outside to greet her pride.
The first cat she saw was Sticky who was… weirdly small? She giggled a little bit, it must have had something to do with how the snow made them all look smaller. Their fur was extra fluffy today and they were grooming it in an attempt to keep the fluff down. They looked up and greeted her with a nod. “Lion, do you feel small today? I feel small and you look small.”
Joining Sticky in grooming down their fluff she hummed, “You seem really small today Sticky, but I’m the same size so clearly you’re not any smaller than usual.”
Then just as the two were laughing it off Thistle walked by followed by Pine’s kittens. They all froze when they saw the two. The kittens started laughing immediately and Thistle couldn’t help but smirk with them. “Thistle! Quit messing with the kittens and get over here! I’ve gotta teach you some new fighting moves today.”
Thistle pranced over barley holding back his smile, “I don’t know Lion. I think I look much more qualified than you do today.” Lion’s eyes bored into Thistle for a few moments before she realized that there was a difference in how he usually looked, he was taller than her. How had he had such a growth spurt in just one night? “Pardon my joke, but you and Sticky are about as big as the kittens. It’s hard to take you seriously!”
Howl bounced over, holding himself in a play stance, “Now we’re evenly matched Lion! Let’s wrestle!”
“What!?” Lion had barely reacted before the fluffy kitten slammed into her, Thistle was right he was about the same size as her. Her paws were a bit bulkier and she was much more skilled than Howl so she easily pinned him on the ground. “Don’t think we’ll ever be evenly matched Howl, I’ve still got way more training than you.”
Pawsteps pounded the ground as Sprig ran and pushed Lion off of him, “Then how about you try both of us on for size!” The trio wrestled together while Sticky and Thistle spoke on the side, picking sides for who would come out the winner. After some hardship Lion eventually had both of them pinned down, one paw awkwardly balanced on top of each of them. “Aaah… Howl! She’s really good!”
Howl nodded, “Yeah super good!”
“I don’t know why I’m small right now, but I’m still your leader. Of course I’m good!” she hopped off and began to tidy up her fur, “Alright change in plans. Until I go back to normal size we’re all going to do some training inside the camp.” The kittens stared at her with big eyes and she didn’t even have to look or ask to know what they wanted, “You two can join. It’ll give Pine a break from your craziness.”

After a long day of training and play fighting with the kittens Lion and Sticky retired to Lion’s den where they fixed each other’s ruffled fur and snuggled close to each other, now that they were small two people easily fit in Lion’s nest. Once morning came Lion couldn’t help but feel smothered, waking up with Sticky’s entire body on top of her. They were both definitely back to their regular size, she could tell because the nest had fallen to bits in their sleep. She jabbed Sticky awake, “Hey do you remember yesterday?”
Sticky half opened one eye, “Wha. Yester, uhm. I dunno. Wasn’t it a dream?”
She slid out from under them, she’d let them rest for the time being, “It sure didn’t feel like it.”
