Valkeri was nervous around all the new sounds coming to her ears. she winced every time the thunder crashed to the earth feeling the vibratons of it. she looks around with wild eyes and remebers that she can control the storm. she looks around and thinks for a moment using her logical thinking to get out of the pickle shes in. she raises her eyes to the heavens and searches for answers. she feels a electric shock through her paws looking around she noticed that she was crawling with electricity. she looks around her vision anew. she roars discharging the electricity to a tree. it leaps up into flames.

    xxxxxxxxxxx─── ・ 。゚☆: * lightning makes no sound until it strikes. * :☆゚. ───

xxAmpharos has always been afraid of the dark, ever since he was a child. As a young boy, he had a strange affinity for horror stories and creatures that lurked in the darkness. As he grew older though, these interests turned into fears, and he grew to hold a strong hatred toward the darkness and anything that may be hiding within it.

He grew up hearing stories of monsters that hid under your bed and creatures that lurked in the darkness of unlit rooms. When he was a kid, these myths filled him with excitement and wonder, right up until he had a terrifying experience of his own.

Once on a dark, moonless night, Ampharos had stayed in his home by himself while his parents were away on vacation. While he was laying in bed watching tv, the young male heard a loud bang on the floor below. Curious and slightly frightened, Ampharos made his way down the stairs slowly, his eyes darting around the darkness, hoping to adjust to the change in lighting quickly. Suddenly, another loud bang sounded right in front of him, and he came face to face with a strange man. Ampharos stood in horror as the intruder knocked him onto the ground and darted out of an open window.

From then on, Ampharos never turned a single light off in his home. He always had candles lit throughout the night, and he refused to enter a room unless the lights were turned on. One of the more detrimental parts of this fear was his refusal to go outside at night. It was his worst fear, and the one he had clung to for the longest period of time.

Though he could explain the reasoning behind these fears, and he had never been able to overcome them, no matter how hard he tried. He'd gone to countless specialists, hoping they'd be able to help him find a way to overcome his fears. No matter what he did, there was nothing he could do to overlook the darkness, and his inability to travel in the darkness caused him to lose those closest to him.

Aside from these drawbacks, Ampharos grew to enjoy his loneliness. It did get tiring at times, but knowing that nobody would come to visit him made him feel even more secure in his safety.

Though he was mostly trapped in his home when night fell, there were a few occasions where he could enjoy stargazing. He would only go outside on a full moon when the moon's light expelled all of the darkness. The other condition, however, was when there was a storm.

Lightning was one of his favorite natural occurrences, aside from some of the more aesthetic shows of light. This was because, even if only for a second, lightning had the ability to turn even the darkest of nights into day, even if it was only for a moment.

On nights like these, Ampharos would sit on his porch with a flashlight and a book in hand. He loved sitting outside with a good book while the Earth shook with the force of the thunder, and flashed with bright strikes of lightning. It just happened to be one of the most calming events for him, even if he was scared for a split second between the bright flashes. He just loved the way the wind felt as it brushed through his fur, and the sound it made as it rustled the trees around him.

Nothing was better to him than lightning. In those fleeting moments of light, he felt all of his problems fade away and for once, his fears weren't the only thing on his mind anymore.

prompt; Rain poured down, the sound of droplets hitting the house drowned out everything else. Occasionally a magnificent flash of lightning would light up in the far distance, followed then by the crack of thunder. Being inside during a storm, especially when alone, always felt different - isolated, shrouded, cut off from others, but also protected in some way.
Blitz loved the lightning and thunder because of those feelings, but he never always felt that way though. It took living alone and facing a storm of lightning and thunder on his own to realise that storms aren't all bad and scary - and can actually be quite gorgeous.
Blitz lived all his life in areas where summer storms were common. Following those storms were always flash floods, which lead to being evacuated from his home multiple times. From a young age, he always worried about storms, but was reassured by his mother and older siblings.
When he moved away though, his mom and siblings would no longer be there with him. Blitz ended up move quite far away for school, and began living in a dorm by himself. It was quiet without his family but he enjoyed it, for the most part. One thing for sure was that he was not prepared for his first storm away from home.
Blitz's first storm alone started innocently enough - he was use to them, no problem. At least that was his first thoughts; as the storm progressed to louder thunder and lightning he got more and more nervous. Without his mom (who he always thought fussed over him too much) and his siblings (who nagged too much but definitely kept him distracted), he quickly felt more uncomfortable.
It wasn't a "magic" moment that suddenly changed Blitz's mind about lightning and thunder, but more of him just being left alone in his thoughts. It wasn't a dangerous storm, and he actually enjoyed the sound of the pitter pattering of the rain. He couldn't sleep through the storm but he found it a good white noise to crack down and focus on some work he needed down.
After that first storm alone, Blitz has learned to appreciate a good thunder storm or two, even appreciating lightning more for it's beauty (from a distance of course).

When she was a little lamb, her mother always told her not to go outside in a thunderstorm! She lectured Eep for hours! But little Eep was very curious about the storms. Her owners would gather them inside the barn and little Eep would look outside the barn window in wonder. She always asked her mother if she could outside during a storm for just five minutes! Of course, her mother always said no. Eep grumbled angrily and stomped off. Eep was determined to go outside and experience the lighting and thunder!

(Sometimes you gotta get through your fears to see the beauty on the other side.)
(The good dinosaur quote.)

When I was but a young child, I use to hate both the sight, and sound of thunder, and lighting.
When ever a storm came, I never minded the rain, it was only when the sky filled with roars and blinding lights, did I hide myself in my mother's arms.

I remember how she use to sing to me, to try and block out the sound of the thunder, as well as to gentle my tears.
She would sing to sooth my heart, and calm my nerves, to detract my from the rage that went on outside the windows.

I had always hated the thunder and its harsh cry, I jumped to every flash of pure light that bursted from the sky.

I cried so much during those times... I had so much fear, but never knew why.
For years my family tried to help me, and reassure me that no harm would come to me, that I was safe.
And even though I believed them, my fear still remained. Even as a young teenager, I still feard the storm that these two road apron. I was never able to see or hear anything but fear.

It wasn't until someone who was dear to me, someone who was a strong role model in my life did that change.
I was staying over with some friends, when a storm hit, the clouds grew dark, and the sky cried out in rage as flashes of lightning lit up the sky.

My fear had taken a hold of me once more, and I could only stand and watch as everyone else stood in the open door way watching and listening to the storm.
That's when my friends father stood beside me, saw my fear.
And he spoke to me softly, telling me it was OK, that when he was young he use to fear the same storm as I did.
But then he realized that there was nothing truly to fear, that it was uncommon for lightning to strike. He told me that he had come to enjoy watching when it came.

And though these were all things my family had tried to tell me before, it felt different coming from him.
Maybe it was from the absence of a father figure in my life. Maybe it was because I knew that he was a strong person, and it was hard to see him scared.
But all I know is that on that night, through my tears I was able to stand with everyone else, and watched as the storm past on.

And though to this day, I still carry with me a bit of fear, I've found that I'm able to exclaim with delight when ever I catch a bright flashing light, outside the window. I find myself feeling more like WOW!, at loud crys of thunder then filling with fear.

I even will sometimes sit beside a window to watch as the storm passes over. Watch, and waiting for each bright light.
I've started to enjoy the storm and find beauty in it, other then just fear it.

The room lights up with yellow light, followed by the comforting crash of the thunder that Cecily knows very well. Like a friend on a schedule, it comes every Friday, like clockwork. It’s odd, she thinks, that the thunder only comes on Fridays’, but the forecast says so, and so she believes it. Strongly so.

It’s been like that ever since she can remember, they remember sitting on mom’s lap when a storm came ‘round. She smiles at that remembrance, and the rain beats harder against the window. They rest their cheek on the palm of their hand, and look outside the window, falling backwards into thought.

      --

“Mom! Mommy!” Cecily calls out, her eyes red and brimming with tears, “The thunder is here! The thunder is here!”

Her mom turns around, and Cecily catches a look of horror in her eyes, but it is quickly replaced by sympathy. “Cecily…” she whispers, in a gentle tone, “Tell me what happened before the storm came.”

“I-I was…” they pause, knowing they will soon get into trouble, “I was reading one of my books… one of my storm books… I know I’m not supposed to think about ‘em too much during the sun times! I know it mama! But I did anyway! The storms are so pretty.”

Mama frowns, and sits down in her chair. She pats her lap and motions for Cecily to sit down, and they do. Mama pets Cecily’s head, and begins to tell her a long story, about treaties, and promises to the Gods of the sun, summer and of the spring. Mama’s voice fills her ears, and lulls her to sleep with the pretty words of the promise to the gods, a promise to bring rain on a schedule in their small town, to keep the grains growing and the hearts warm.

❝ like the storm, i refuse to be controlled ❞

Thunderstorms may seem scary to some. They are pretty loud and kind of in your face. But for Sam, thunderstorms are beautiful. They can't get enough of them. It doesn't matter whether they are inside the comfort of their own home, or out in the world facing them. Thunderstorms make Sam comfortable. More comfortable than anything else in the world. It feels like they are meant to be a part of the thunderstorm. They connect with them on a deeper level.

Whenever a storm comes rolling in, they will stop whatever they are doing just to watch it roll through. The best part is when the lightning strikes. The bright and beautiful color in the dark sky. It makes them feel alive. They feel as though they are a part of the storm whenever the lightning hits. It draws them in like nothing else ever existed. The vibration of the thunder underneath their paws sends shivers down their spine. Makes their fur stand straight up. They can never get enough of that feeling. They enjoy the louder and more fierce thunderstorms the most. Those are the best ones, in their opinion.

When they were younger, their dad would always take them outside when a thunderstorm came through. They would sit together, braving the elements in silence. Those are some of Sam's favorite childhood memories.

Sometimes, they feel like the lightning is trying to talk to them. As if each lightning strike is a key to the message it's trying to send. These lightning strikes act as if they were tarot cards. Giving advice and guidance when Sam needs it most.

Sam will go their entire life loving thunderstorms. How could they not? They have essentially become a part of the thunderstorm itself. A key component.
