which kit? top right
name: jasper
prompt answer
jasper believes in zodiacs. always has! his
dad taught him all about the stars and zodiacs. he's a virgo and his brother is an aries. the problem is that jayden takes it
way too seriously. there's great things about being an aries, but jayden really focuses on the chaotic aggression.
he's kind of a chill, protective mom type, a true virgo. luckily, this grants him the patience to try and tell jayden that the stars don't define your entire life, and just because he's an aries, it doesn't mean he has to be a stubborn jerk. please, stop taking this so seriously.

which kit?; Bottom left
name: Jayden
prompt: Jayden is an aries. Now, Jayden doesn't at all believe in zodiacs, but this? This is a travesty. Every time anyone asks about zodiacs he has to say he's an aries, and suddenly it's all "oh haha you must be stubborn" and he is absolutely NOT stubborn!!!! Jasper tells him that it's not that bad and aries are good, but what does he know???? He's a virgo, so everybody just thinks he's a responsible mom. Who even gave the stars so much power????? Who looked at a light and went "ohohohohohohoho, that will define my entire personality" it's stupid! This whole thing is stupid! He will not stand for this any longer! One day he'll make Jasper realize the stars are dumb and zodiacs aren't even cool!!!!!

which kalon? top babe
name. casmus
prompt answer. Casmus sat tapping his pen against the desk, frustrations growing in his head. What kind of teacher assigns an essay on zodiac signs? He thought. The blank sheet of notebook paper stared dauntingly at him; Likewise, a poorly stapled article peered from the corner of the table, yearning to be read. Turning to the kalon writing ruthlessly to his left, he spoke in a whisper like tone, “What’s the difference between star signs and flying unicorns?” The other boy looked at him confused, taken aback by the attempt at a joke. “There is none. They’re both fake!” Casmus giggled and looked down, trying to mask his smile from the staring teacher. Fixing his eyes to meet those of the kalon next to him, he was surprised to see not a grinning face staring back at him, but a look of frustration. “You’re a Capricorn, right?” He spoke. “I’m a what?” Casmus whispered. Star signs had never sparked his interest, much less the research on his own for the assignment; Much more consumed by the wonders of video games and remote control cars, he didn’t do much horoscope reading. Leaning towards the other’s paper, he began to read the solidly written essay laying upon the boy’s desk. His long, neat handwriting was a wonder in comparison to that of casmus, a stubby and messy print. “I’m, uh, i’m Casmus. And you’re?” He gulped, afraid his joke had been misunderstood. “I’m Layne. Zodiac signs are real, you know?” Casmus laughed, surprised to see no sign of sarcasm in his face. “I could tell you were a Capricorn with that kind of humor. My horoscopes said i’d be met with someone challenging my faith this week anyhow.” Layne looked back to the teacher nervously; Feeling guilty, Casmus began to apologize. “Look, i’m sorry if i offended you or whatever. But what do you mean i’m a capricorn? Is that some kind of smart insult-“ Layne’s laughter now interrupted Casmus’s rant as he began to explain. “Your zodiac sign is capricorn. I’m a leo, but i’d say that’s pretty obvious, you think?” Man, this kid is weird, he thought. “Well, i, uh, yeah i guess. I don’t really know too much about the stars, eh?” Casmus turned his head back down to face the untouched blue and red lined surface, now picking up the article and beginning to read. Again turning to meet the eyes of his side partner, he spoke in a hushed tone. “What does a capricorn act like anyways?” Still in disbelief of the signs, he listened as the boy began listing traits of the zodiac. Honest, Sarcastic, Determined. Seems about right to me, Casmus thought. Flipping through the pages, he stumbled across an article titles compatibility. 4) Leo and Capricorn- Both signs have strong and infectious personalities, and though they may seem like an unlikely pair, this is a case of opposites attract. A sudden glance at the clock knocked him back to reality, and he set the pen to the paper to begin to write.
I’ve never been a firm believer in the zodiac signs, but i do believe in supporting those of others-

which kit? bottom left
name. layne
prompt answer. The sharp snap of his pencil's graphite fracturing brought Layne back to reality. Freshly brought to his senses, he noticed the throbbing soreness in his wrists, his slouched back and aching shoulder blades, and - of course - the broken lead of his pencil.
Layne could write until the end of time, if it weren't for these bothersome restraints and setbacks. Astrology, horoscopes, divination, zodiacs — he was a self-proclaimed expert on these topics. His mind was like a fierce, ever-growing flame of knowledge, constantly craving more and more information. It started out as a spark, tame and innocent, until he eventually began nurturing its sprout of a spirit with boundless information. And he never stopped.
God, Layne loved astrology.
Imagine his excitement when the new assignment got announced: an essay about zodiac signs. Layne was overfilling with sheer anticipation and enthusiasm, he couldn't wipe the silly grin off of his face.
Layne sighed wistfully as he clicked the end of his mechanical pencil, forcing out half a centimeter worth of fresh lead. Rubbing his wrist, he continued where he left off.
———
Layne didn't even notice how absorbed he was until he felt his ears prickle from the hushed whisper of another person. Whipping his head to his right, he met the gaze of the Kalon seated directly beside him.
"What’s the difference between star signs and flying unicorns? There is none. They’re both fake!" They broke off into smothered giggles, leaving Layne's face twisting into a deep scowl.
What? Layne must’ve heard wrong. Surely he did. But what else could’ve they had said? With a clearly displeased scoff, Layne instinctively studied his character, scrunching up his eyebrows and pursing his lips in the process.
The boy who told the - rather offensive - joke seemed to bear the qualities of a particular sign. The way they composed themselves, how they spoke, and their questionable sense of humor —
“You’re a Capricorn, right?” Layne tilted his head, expecting his suspicions to be confirmed by the other boy. Instead, they cocked an eyebrow in confusion, as if Layne spoke in a language he didn’t understand.
“I’m a what?”
Well, that explained a lot.
“I’m, uh, I’m Casmus.” They introduced themselves with a subtle nod. “And you’re..?”
“I’m Layne. Zodiac signs are real, you know?” He replied with a huff. Casmus laughed. Layne wanted nothing more than to rip the other student’s blank sheet of paper in half.
Ignoring his reaction, Layne continued. “I knew you were a Capricorn with that that kind of humor. My horoscopes said I’d be met with someone challenging my faith this week anyhow.” Immediately after finishing his sentence, Layne froze, getting struck with a pang of realization that they should be writing, not having this idle chit-chat. Layne glanced at the teacher nervously, hoping they didn’t catch onto the conversation the two were having.
“Look, I’m sorry if I offended you or whatever. But what do you mean I’m a capricorn? Is that some kind of smart insult-” Layne almost burst into tears. He tried stifling his laughter, but to no avail. Layne was a bit taken aback by the abrupt apology, considering the bemused state Casmus was in. Layne sighed, his lips quirking up and forming an amused grin.
They’re hopeless.
“Your zodiac sign is Capricorn. I’m a Leo, but I’d say that’s pretty obvious, you think?” He tilted his head and gestured nonchalantly towards his classmate.
“Well, I, uh, yeah I guess. I don’t really know too much about the stars, eh?” Layne watched attentively as Casmus pulled up the article that laid on his desk. They scanned the contents of it for a moment, then turned to face Layne once again. “What does a Capricorn act like anyways?”
Layne gleamed eagerly as he effortlessly listed off all the traits that made up a Capricorn. “Ah, well, Capricorns belong to the earth element. They’re known to be honest, sarcastic, determined, disciplined, can be a bit pessimistic at times . . .” He trailed off, letting Casmus continue his read on the article in front of him. A spark of determination manifested in his eyes, and Casmus eagerly began his essay, filling up the space between them with silence. Layne let a tender smile slip through as he stole one last glance at the boy, then resumed his own essay.
At the end of the day, believers and skeptics alike, zodiac signs are something that connects us all, in one way or another.
